This season we welcome a new tennis coach for Mt Pleasant Tennis
Club. Geoff is Fully Qualified, is highly experienced and has a natural
ability to encourage young people to play and build a passion for
Tennis.
Geoff will run the Junior Coaching Programme in a structured and
organised manner. He has a great sense of humour and will keep it
fun for our young players.
Our Junior Coaching programme is designed to help young players
progress quickly up the ladder of play. Geoff has worked with many
students at schools. He runs Tennis Clinics in the school holidays and
ran the 3 day one covering the days 8th to 11th Oct 2013. It was a great
clinic and the improvement in the players was immense.
Season 2013 2014
Welcome to the new season which
commenced officially on Saturday 19th
October 2013 continues through to 30th
March 2014.
Welcome back to our coach Prue South
who will be primarily coaching the Juniors
aged 5 to 8. We now also have a new
coach, Geoff Smith, who will coach 9yrs+
along with Inter Club teams.
Coaching time for Non Inter Club Tennis
Players is Sat 9am to 10am or 10am to
11am depending on the time you were
allocated.
Inter Club Games will be played Saturday
mornings at either Mount Pleasant
or another Club as per the draw from
Canterbury Tennis.
Inter Club coaching is on Wednesday due
to Inter Club games are played on Sat.
At all tennis coaching and games please
ensure you have:
 Your Tennis Racket named
 A Mt Pleasant Tennis Club
membership sticker on racket

 A water bottle

 Advance the level of play
 Increase the number of Inter Club Teams
 Develop a full coaching programme

Inter Club Tennis Structure
The teams are registered to play on a Saturday morning at 8.30am.
Games are played at either Mt Pleasant or at another Tennis Club,
depending on the draw.
Teams require 4 players plus one reserve player. Singles are played by
each player and then a game of doubles is played. 11 games are to be
played each match and the winner is the first to 6 games.
This is all recorded manually in a book per team and then online.

Xmas Coaching Clinic
Geoff is keen to run another coaching clinic at Mt Pleasant Tennis
Courts just before Xmas. The dates are Thu 19th and Fri 20th of
December, 9.30am to 12.00 each day. As this is a 2 day programme,
both days need to be attended. The cost for the 2 days is $45.
Attached is the enrolment form which should be given to Geoff.
Xmas Pot Luck Dinner
We have decided to do a pot luck dinner this year at the Mt Pleasant
Club for the Junior Families.







