Flourish Plus An end of term edition Miltoncross Academy News Bulletin 27th May 2016 Message from the Principal The examination season is upon us and the Year 11 will soon be leaving us for pastures new. All students have places in colleges. The majority are transferring to Portsmouth College. Work at home has been and remains a key factor in the success of students in their GCSE examinations. Year 7 have had an extended school this year in which they complete work to support their progress in lessons. In Year 8 this work will now be completed at home so that students start to take responsibility for their own learning. Uniform Change From September 2016, girls will be expected to wear the new school skirt as pictured below, or black tailored trousers. Available from Penelope Ann, the skirt will cost £15.95. The Miltoncross Academy uniform is professional and appropriate for the work place however we have had several issues with some skirts not being suitable for Academy wear. To alleviate this issue, from September 2016 if students chose to wear a skirt, there will be a Miltoncross Academy skirt. The skirt matches the blazer, is washable and will cost £15.95 (see the inset picture) It is available from Penelope Ann. Students can wear plain black tailored school trousers (as they do at present) should they not wish to wear a skirt. Have a good Bank Holiday weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone for the start of term on Monday June 6th at 8.45am. Well done Erin! @MXReadingClub A long time ago where civil blood makes civil hands unclean No laws to lay down, When Elizabeth was queen children would run around and scream! Children would be scared to go into town, No money no worth; fear walked the earth, Expecting to put people down. Scared to walk on the murderous turf, Streets so dirty they would turn brown. Worried to turn every corner, every street, Looming around the theatre, the Globe Never knowing who you could greet, who you might meet; Montague or Capulet? Wearing hooded robes. This was the time Shakespeare was alive, Such a legend in our eyes!
