Edition 16: 28th May, 2001 - St Edwards primary school Tamworth

Edition 11 20th April 2015
Prayer of Remembrance
Today we remember with thanksgiving those who
made the supreme sacrifice for us in time of war.
We pray that the offering of their lives may
not have been in vain.
Today we dedicate our lives to the cause of
justice, freedom and peace, and for the wisdom
and strength to build a better world. Amen
The Ode of Remembrance
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
Anzac Day March – this Saturday 25th April
This year the ANZAC Day March will be held on Saturday
25th April and we encourage all students from Kinder to
Year 6 to represent St Edward’s School in this march.
Children are asked to wear full summer uniform (including
hat) and meet Mr McSweeney, Mrs Long and the teachers
at 9.30am in Bourke Street. The march will be via Peel
Street and at the end of the march all school children will
turn from Peel Street into Fitzroy Street and Kable Avenue
and proceed to Number One Oval for dispersal. We ask
parents to please collect your children from Number
One Oval. A permission note went home last term – if
your child(ren) will be attending the March, please sign
and return to their class teacher ASAP. Thank you for
your support of this important community event.
Please note all schools will no longer lay a wreath at the
Dawn Service and this will now be held at the Town Hall at
10.45am after the March. Our School Captains and Mr
McSweeney will attend this Service. Families are still
welcome to attend the Dawn Service and the Service in the
Town Hall.

“KID’S CORNER”
“Tweety”
One day there was a yellow bird named Tweety.
She was having a lovely warm bath.
But then Sylvester was spying on her.
He was going to eat her from head to toe.
He could even smell her flesh!
Tweety heard a loud scratching noise on
one of the trees.
She thought it was Sylvester the cat.
He was always spying on her.
After a while she said to herself she’d better get
out because she had to see her Grandma.
But first she had to go to the shop to buy some
bread for Grandma.
Luckily Tweety found a safe spot at her
Grandma’s house.
Back in the woods Sylvester was looking for
Tweety, but he could not find her anywhere.
He looked and looked and looked but he
still could not find her.
Suddenly he heard a tweeting sound.
It was Tweety! Sylvester had a naughty
grin on his face.
Eventually Tweety scared Sylvester.
He ran away terrified and never came back again.
The End.

RE News
Easter
We come back to school in the Easter Season. We
remember that on Easter Sunday we celebrated Jesus
rising to new life and we continue to reflect on what
that means for us. We are called to give witness in our
own daily lives to the risen Christ, by actions and
words that reflect his great love for us. By living the
Good News we encourage all around us to grow in the
knowledge of Christ and love of God.
Easter Sunday Liturgy
Kindergarten will lead us in celebrating Jesus’
Resurrection during our Easter Sunday Liturgy in the
Infants’ Hall at 11.40am, tomorrow Tuesday 21st
April. All visitors are welcome.
Year 3 held an Easter Sunday Liturgy today at the
Primary Campus, reminding us of the importance of
Easter Sunday.
ANZAC Day Liturgies
The children at both the Primary and Infants’ Campus
will take time to reflect upon the great sacrifices
made by all those who went to war to make Australia
the great nation it is today. Each Campus will hold an
ANZAC Day Liturgy this Friday 24th April and pray
for all of those brave men and women and their
families and for our world today.
Primary Liturgy at 10.40am this Friday, Primary
Quadrangle – parents welcome.
Infants Liturgy at 11.40am this Friday, Infants’ Hall –

WISE WORDS FOR FAMILIES – “The Trolls
Inside”
Trolls are part of ancient Nordic Culture. They inhabit the world of
folk and fairy tales. Trolls lived under bridges and in dark places.
Short, hairy and ugly trolls were rarely seen, however just the
thought of them was enough to send shivers down the spine. As a
kid you had to be wary of trolls.
Now the worst trolls live inside children's heads. The voice of
insecurity, self doubt and fear is the worst troll of all. This is the
troll that kids have to be most vigilant about. It's the job of parents
to help kids defeat trolls. Kids need to face them to defeat them.
That's not easy. Don't let them feed the troll with doubt and negative
self-talk. Don't let them be trapped by the troll. Inaction through
fear is what a troll loves. Help kids be brave and tackle their fears,
rather than be held back by the troll inside their heads. Action is the
troll's worst enemy. It hates kids tackling their fears. Help them be
brave. Help them feign confidence. Help them do. That's how they
will defeat the troll inside their heads.
