CHEMICAL CHANGE - change in which the composition of a substance changes. 3. PHYSICAL PROPERTY characteristics that can be observed without changing or trying to change the composition of a substance. 4. CHEMICAL PROPERTY - characteristic that cannot be observed without altering the sample. 5. COMPOUND - a pure substance that is made up of two or more elements that have be bonded together chemically. 6. MIXTURE - two or more substances that are combined but not chemically bonded. 7. CONSERVATION OF MASS - the concept that states that the total mass of matter stays the same before and after a chemical or physical change.
