Park and Ride
in the West Midlands
With park and ride spaces across the West
Midlands, there’s never been a better time to
travel by bus, train or tram.
A rolling programme of new CCTV systems,
emergency help points, public address systems,
lighting, fencing and boundary improvements
are all helping to make park and ride safe and
secure – and immensely popular.
Quality park and ride is an important element
in improving public transport. Park and ride
already takes an estimated two million car
journeys a year off our region’s congested
roads. By using park and ride, you can help
tackle those traffic jams – and boost the health,
wealth and environment of the West Midlands
as you travel.
Share it!
Car sharing to your station gives you the benefit
and convenience of travelling in a car, but also
means that there is more cash in your wallet,
fewer cars on the road, more spaces in car
parks and less pollution in the air.
Some rail stations with car parking facilities are
starting to reserve parking spaces for those cars
with more than one passenger.

TravelWise is a national campaign to
encourage people to take sustainable travel
choices – to reduce unnecessary car journeys
or consider alternatives to driving alone where
possible.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re travelling to
work or school, out shopping or enjoying your
leisure time, there’s lots of things you can do
to make a difference to congestion. Car-share,
walk, cycle or use the bus, train or tram when
you can – a small change can make a big
difference.
