The First Time You Access CareerZone
Click the Profile tab and review your personal information. It
is critical that this information be accurate. If any information
is incorrect, proceed to the Student Self Service tab
(on Blackboard) and make your corrections. Be aware that
any changes will take up to a week to update in CareerZone.
NOTE: If any of your personal data changes during the school
year, you must make updates through Student Self Service.
Once your information is accurate, you can begin putting
CareerZone to work for you.

Using CareerZone
Uploading Resumes, Cover Letters, and Other Documents
In order to be considered for employment, you must have your
resume uploaded to your account. To do this,
1. Click on the Document tab.
2. Click Add New.
3. In the text box titled “Label” give the document a name.
For example “Resume1” or “Marketing Resume” etc.
4. Select the appropriate Document Type.
5. Click Browse to locate and attach the document to
be uploaded.
6. Click Submit.
Your resume has now been submitted for consideration.
CareerZone allows you to upload several documents (cover
letter, references, resumes, etc.). You will receive confirmation
of each document via your mymail email account. Once approved,
your documents will be available for your use. They will be
located in the document section of your account.
View Job Postings:
There are two types of job postings. The first is Berkeley College
CareerZone Jobs. These are positions that are posted specifically
with Berkeley College. The Career Services Department has a
working relationship with most of these employers. The second
is NACElink Network Jobs. These positions have been posted
nationally through our association with the National Association
of Colleges and Employers. The Career Services Department may
or may not have a working relationship with these employers.
4
To View Berkeley College CareerZone Job Postings:
1. Click on Jobs.
2. Click on Berkeley College CareerZone Jobs.
You will now see a list of all available positions. The list can
be refined by using the option located just above the list.
To View NACElink Job Postings:
1. Click on Jobs.
2. Click on NACElink Network.
3. You now have the option of entering specific search criteria.
4. Click Search NACElink Network.
A new browser window will appear. This link will take you
directly to the NACElink Network.
How To Create Search Agent(s):
1. Click on Jobs.
2. Click on Advanced Search.
3. Go to Search Agent.
- Check the box.
- Give your Search Agent a relevant name.
4. Posting Date determines how far back your job search will
go (e.g., if you would like to see all jobs that meet your
criteria that have been posted over the last week, you would
put the number 7 in this block. To see those that have been
posted over the last 30 days, place a 30 in this box, etc.)
5
5. For Keywords, only put in the minimum number of words
that will get you the maximum number of applicable jobs.
The more keywords you enter, the fewer job opportunities
will show. (It may take you several tries to know what will
get you the best results.)
6. It is recommended that you leave the sections titled
“Majors/Concentrations” and “Ignores jobs with ‘All
Majors’ Selected” empty, as many employers may not
know exactly which majors to check.
7. Under Position Type highlight all that apply to you. Hold
the Control key down to identify multiple position types.
8. Work Authorization. Certain employers are limited to
hiring only US citizens or permanent residents. Please do
not misrepresent your citizenship status to employers, as
they will find out eventually and this will not look good for
you or for Berkeley College.
9. Job Function is used to narrow your job search parameters
to show only jobs with those particular functions within a
company.
10. Travel Percentage. If travel is an issue for you, then indicate
the amount of time that you would be able to travel if a job
required it.
11. The next four blocks allow you to stipulate your geographical
locations. The last of these four blocks, Jobs Located
Within, allows you to stipulate the number of miles from
a specific zip code you are willing to travel.
12. Remember to hit the Submit key in order to save your
search agent.
13. The next time that you want to run/change the search agent,
go to the Search Agent tab and select the search agent you
want. You may save multiple search agents, so make sure you
use a name that readily identifies each agent.
6
14. If you want the search agent to send you email updates
automatically, go to the Search Agent tab. Under Options
click the Schedule button on the same line as the specific
search agent you want to run. On the Enabled button, click
the YES option. This will then give you two additional
options. Under Period, select either day, week, or month.
Then select the Multiple of the period selected that you
want the search agent to run. Examples: If you select Week
under Period and 2 under Multiple, then the search agent
will run once every 2 weeks. To receive results every day, you
would select Day under Period and 1 under Multiple. The
results will be sent to your Berkeley College mymail address.
How to Apply to Job Postings:
Once you’ve conducted a job search and you have identified
a position to which you would like to apply, do the following:
1. Click on the Job Title for which you wish to apply. This will
open another window.
2. On the right side, go to the Application Status block and
identify which documents (resumes, cover letters, etc.) you
want to submit to the employer.
3. Once you are sure you have identified the documents you
want sent to the employer, click the Submit button. Your
documents have now been sent.
NOTE: If you need to withdraw your application for a position
after it has been submitted, contact your Career Services
Counselor as soon as possible.

BERKELEY COLLEGE CareerZone PRIVACY POLICY
The Berkeley College web-based software program known as “The
Berkeley College CareerZone” is part of the NACElink website, owned
and operated by the National Association of Colleges and Employers
(NACE). Both The Berkeley College Career Services and Alumni
Relations Department and NACE are committed to maintaining the
privacy of our users (“you” or “user”) of the NACElink (“site”). Since
we do collect certain types of information about our users, in this
privacy statement we will describe the terms and conditions
surrounding the capture and use of that information including what
we collect, how we use it, and how users can make changes.
Employers post employment opportunities directly on NACElink.com,
through The Berkeley College website, on the DirectEmployers Association’s website, or through NACE’s website - NACEWeb - where there is
a direct link to NACElink. Berkeley College is a NACElink Custom School
and uses NACElink to provide a web-based system for job postings, a
resume data base, and a registration venue both for its job seekers and
for the employers who recruit on campus.
Students/alumni use NACElink though their college/university career
centers to post resumes and review job opportunities.
NACE’s commitment to all user’s schools, employers, and students/
alumni - is that NACE will maintain the confidentiality of all information
collected on NACElink and NACE will not sell, transmit, or disclose this
information to any other organization.
NACElink is the host server, storing and maintaining the data. NACE
also has a partner, DirectEmployers Association, which will provide
backup hosting services to NACE’s servers. NACE and DirectEmployers
Association only have access to the data in aggregate form.
How Will NACE or the Berkeley College Career Services and Alumni
Relations Department Use Personally Identifiable Information?
• To enable employers to access and use various tools, features, and
functions of the NACElink system, such as posting jobs and interview
schedules.
• To enable students/alumni to access various tools, features, and
9
functions of the NACElink system, in particular job posting, resume
data bases, and job-search agents.
• To communicate with employers regarding use of NACElink, advise
of site changes, or to inform you of other possible events/activities
associated with recruiting.
Student/Alumni Job Seekers
NACE receives and collects personally identifiable information about
student/alumni users, (name, contact information, demographic
information, academic history, G.P.A., employment history, etc.) via
NACElink and the PeopleSoft database upon a student’s admission
to the school and when he or she uploads resumes, cover letters,
and other documents which contain personal information.
The Berkeley College Career Services and Alumni Relations Department
may access some of the student’s personal information in order to send
emails to a job seeker using communication tools on the site, to publish
resumes in the school’s resume book(s) on the site, and to send resumes to employers on behalf of students/alumni.
Employers/search firms that use NACElink directly through NACElink
or through The Berkeley College Career Services and Alumni Relations
Department will have access to a student’s resume, if submitted to a
resume book, individual job listing, or Berkeley College CareerZone.
The personal information contained therein may be used for recruiting,
interviewing, and hiring purposes. NACE and The Berkeley College
Career Services and Alumni Relations Department are not responsible
for personal information about users that is available or accessible to
them on this site. While NACE and The Berkeley College Career Services and Alumni Relations Department endeavor to restrict access to
this database to eligible employers, NACE cannot guarantee that other
parties will not gain access to the database without our consent.
Employers
The Berkeley College Career Services and Alumni Relations Department
and NACE will collect information from employers utilizing the site. This
information includes contact information (such as phone numbers or
email addresses); unique identifiers (such as NACE membership or account numbers, or password to NACElink); and financial information
(such as a credit card number); and demographic information
10
(e.g., location, type of organization, and size of organization). The
financial information collected will be used only to bill an organization
for fees associated with multi-school listings or other NACElink services.
NACE has a contract with VeriSign to verify an employer’s credit card
number. Credit card information will be deleted as soon as the
transaction is completed and will not be stored on NACE’s or
DirectEmployers’ servers. Employers will need to re-enter that
information each time there is a new financial transaction.
NACE will receive and collect information from employers’ job
postings (including job descriptions, employment qualifiers, and salary
information) and interview schedules posted either directly through
NACElink, through the DirectEmployers Association website, or through
the Berkeley College website.
Technical Issues
Updating Account Information
NACElink allows users to change or correct personal information at any
time. To do so, simply log on to your account, go to your profile, and you
will find options for editing the information.
Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses and Aggregated User Data
NACE collects IP addresses from all users of the site, and collects and
monitors other data and information about the activities of our users on the
site collectively. We only use such data anonymously and in the aggregate.
Cookies
Cookies, which are small text files recorded in a user’s hard drive,
are employed by thousands of sites to enhance users’ web viewing
experience. Cookies cannot damage user files, nor can they read
information from a user’s hard drive. Cookies in and of themselves
do not personally identify users, although they do identify a user’s
computer. Cookies allow sites to “remember” users across pages
of a site and across multiple visits to a site. However, when you use
NACElink, it will set a cookie while you are on the site. Once you log
out of the site or close your browser window the cookies are deleted.
Because users must log on every time they use NACElink, NACElink
does not store information regarding the number of times the site
was used.
11
Security
NACE takes precautions to protect each user’s personal information.
When users submit sensitive information via the web site, the
information is protected both online and off-line. When students/alumni
submit resumes or information about their academic records, that
information is encrypted and protected.
In addition, the job seeker and employer data is password protected,
so only the user can access this information. All personally identifiable
information NACE collects about you is stored in limited-access servers.
NACElink has technical, administrative, and physical security measures
and safeguards in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and
alteration of all information under NACE’s control. This site uses
firewalls to protect against loss, misuse, and alteration of the
information under our control.
