September 1st, 2012 Greetings Parents, Welcome back! My name is Bryan Wiedeman and this year will be my second with the high school here at AIS-­‐R. Last year was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the school, community and students both here at AIS-­‐R and also in the kingdom. This year I look forward to the opportunity to meet new families and spend more time exploring Saudi Arabia. The 2012-­‐13 school year will be a rewarding experience for students, parents and staff and I’m thrilled about the opportunity for you to learn with us. Previous to our time spent here in the kingdom my wife Disha and I taught in Abu Dhabi where we worked at GEMS American Academy for three years. While there I taught both grade 4 and technology to students from Kindergarten to grade 7. Before our time in the Middle East we taught in both South Korea and Canada. I completed my undergraduate degree at The University of Western Ontario in Canada where I graduated with my B.A. in Honors History. After receiving my degree I studied and completed my Bachelor of Education from the same institution. I am currently a member of the OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) and also a member of ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and I have attended their annual conference. As a teacher in the MAC lab here at AIS-­‐R my goal is to create an environment where students develop 21st century skills through project-­‐based learning. Creativity, time management skills, goal setting and collaboration are an integral part of all courses. Students who enroll in my classes whether its Yearbook, Advanced Movie Making, Graphic Production, Advanced Multimedia, Game Programming or Advanced Programming will use industry standard software on our 27 inch iMac computers.
