The Maersk Group continually invests in the youngest container fleet in the world, and this includes reefer equipment. Maersk Line’s unique reefer technology and design ensures: • • • • • Low tare weight to maximize payload and reduce CO2 emissions during transit. Low heat leakage and good air tightness to maintain optimal product temperature. Integrated reefer design for reduced energy consumption. Patented Supotec® insulation foam for zero ozonedepletion and reduction of CO2 emission. We have the expertise. Build lasting partnerships with your customers by enlisting the help of our dedicated team of experts to handle your reefer cargo. Mearsk Line has been in the forefront of refrigerated transport since 1936. MCC Transport shares the same expertise in handling reefer cargo. Giving you the assurance that the value and freshness of your cargo will remain intact upon arrival at destination. Why go for refrigerated transport? 6 Refrigeration Is the removal of heat through the process of evaporation. We choose to refrigerate commodities such as meat, fruits and vegetables because we want to prolong their “practical shelf life” – the time from harvest until the product loses its commercial value. This means that all products have a life, that is largely controlled by the temperature in which the product is stored. MCC Transport understands that proper temperature management is the key element to successful refrigerated transport. Armed with the Maersk Group’s years of reefer expertise and equipment, we aim to move your delicate goods with utmost care and premium service standards, making sure that your products reach their destinations in the best quality possible. Get to know our very cool equipment A reefer is an all-electric, single-piece, container unit designed to cool or heat to maintain optimal temperature for transport of frozen, chilled or heated cargo. Reefer containers from any carrier are identical in the sense that they are all from the same manufacturers. MCC The difference is in the way we in the Maersk Liner Business operate the reefers, i.e. what type of software is used and how is the cooling applied in the container space and to the commodity. 8 Our Equipment: Standard Reefers The unique design of Maersk Line’s reefer containers ensure maximized payload, reduced CO2 emissions, optimal product temperature and reduced energy consumption. 20’ Standard Reefer Temperature Range: Cargo Space: Humidity Control: Bottom-air delivery: Fresh-air exchange: Refrigerant used: -30oC to +30oC 27 cbm 65% - 85% (in chilled mode) Yes Adjustable from 0-285 cbm/hr RI34a 40’ Standard Reefer Temperature Range: Cargo Space: Humidity Control: Bottom-air delivery: Fresh-air exchange: Refrigerant used: -30oC to +30oC 67 cbm 65% - 85% (in chilled mode) Yes Adjustable from 0-285 cbm/hr RI34a Max Payload: 60.600 lb / 27.490 kg Max Payload: 64.992 lb / 29.480 kg Dimensions: 20’ x 8’ x 8’6” / 610 x 245 x 262cm Dimensions: 40’ x 8’ x 9’6” / 1,240 x 245 x 292cm Description: Our standard reefers have an integrated container design, eliminating thermal bridges, resulting in reduced heat leakage and improved efficiency. Further, it increases loading capacity by 100 kg 9 Our Equipment: Controlled Atmosphere The shelf life of fresh produce can be prolonged by keeping the commodities at the optimal temperature combined with the most effective blend of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Controlled Atmosphere (CA) containers have been developed to do just that, to create the optimal atmosphere that can suspend or slow down the ripening process, thereby allowing commodities to be shipped to more distant destinations. 40’ High Cube StarfreshTM 40’ High Cube StarcareTM Description: Description: The StarFreshTM container provides a Controlled Atmosphere, whereby nitrogen is actively being injected into the container to keep oxygen and carbon dioxide levels stable during transit. This feature is useful for products such as stone fruit, blueberries, kiwi, sweet corn, lettuce and apples. The StarCareTM container is a Controlled Atmosphere (CA) system, designed to increase the shelf life of fruit and vegetables with high respiration levels. The container features an advanced membrane technology (for separation of CO2 molecules) and automatic fresh air intake. Blocking of the airflow as a consequence of incorrect stuffing may create short circuits and lead to unwanted hot spots inside the cargo area, thereby compromising the quality of your cargo. It is therefore crucial to remember the do’s and don’ts of reefer stuffing: DO pre-cool the cargo before stuffing whenever possible allow unit to start up and run for 5-10mins and check if the reefer is pulling down the temperature set the unit at the correct temperature set ventilation at the correct level in cbm/hour (CLOSED for frozen cargo) set De-humidity at the correct level (OFF for frozen cargo) make sure airflow is not restricted by cargo or packaging material close doors immediately after stuffing is completed make sure to seal the container DONOT leave any areas open or uncovered on the floor, the front bulkhead or the side walls. If pallets are placed at the front bulkhead, be sure to place cardboard under empty pallets. run unit with doors open. stuff the unit while the reefer and genset are running stuff cargo beyond the end of the T-floor. exceed the red load lines when stuffing the cargo plug channels at the end of the T-floor. stuff cargo above the red load line 13 Our Forwarder Policy Temperature Cargo Type Forwarder as booking agent / carrier Manager Forwarder on Named Account basis Forwarder on FAK-basis Frozen Protein, Fish, Seafood Acceptable Acceptable Acceptable Chilled Meat, Fruit, Bananas Acceptable Not Acceptable Not Acceptable Acceptable Acceptable Not Acceptable Others Other chilled/frozen commodities (e.g. Dairy, Juices, Beverages, Chocolates etc. Separate policy applies to pharmaceutical products (Contractual Party is the direct shipper) (contractual party is forwarder on behalf (contractual party is the forwarder alone) of direct shipper - to be stipulated on the B/L) 14 What our customers have to say “160 million times a day, someone somewhere chooses a Unilever product.
