TEAM FEES
Team Fees are $30.00 per week for all scheduled matches, REGARDLESS of the
number of matches played, including Forfeits.
*ANY TEAM that falls two (2) weeks behind in paying their fees will be sent a
warning notice and may be dropped from the League for Non-Payment.
DIVISION PLAYOFFS—Semi Finals & Finals cost teams $6.00/per match.
Example: 3 matches = $18, 4 matches = $24 5 matches = $30. FORFEITS are $6.00
APA Acadiana Pool League is not responsible for cash. We recommend all weekly dues
be paid by check or money order, made payable to “APA”.
There is a $25 NSF Charge for any returned check.
AGE REQUIREMENT
You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
RESCHEDULING MATCHES
On occasion Teams may have to Reschedule matches, due to inclement weather,
illnesses emergencies, etc. Captains should contact the League Office for approval.
The League Office MUST be informed of any rescheduled matches.
Rescheduled matches should be made up within two (2) weeks of the original match,
unless pre-approved by the League Operator.
** Should a Reschedule be necessary the last week of play, Teams will have 3 days to do
so. If not zero (0) points will be awarded to each team. These special arrangements
must be pre-approved by the League Operator. NO EXCEPTIONS.
**Teams that need to Reschedule due to Tricups should reschedule in advance! Please
call the office for assistance.
BANNED PLAYERS
If a player on your team has been banned from a tavern or location, then the team
should play without him/her. There are eight (8) players on a team. In a case where a
player is prohibited from entering a location, it is recommended that the Captain make
sure the other seven (7) players are available. The team schedule is provided in
advance which gives the team plenty of time to make prior arrangements.
**Bar owners have the right to prohibit people from entering
their establishment. League Management CANNOT make
the Bar owner allow people whom they “prohibit”.
QUESTION: A team has a player who is “barred” from a host location and is requesting matches to be played on “NEUTRAL GROUND”. WHAT IS THE RULE?
ANSWER: Actually there is no neutral ground. League should be played at the
HOME host location. That is the agreement the League makes with all Host Locations.
Whichever bar is listed as the HOME host location, is where league play shall be for
that night.
PAPERWORK PICK-UP
TRAVELING TEAMS are responsible for returning the paperwork to the designated
drop-off WHEN FINISHED but no later than 6:00 p.m. the next day.
TRAVELING TEAMS THAT DO NOT RETURN PAPERWORK BY THE SPECIFIED DAY AND
TIME WILL BE ASSESSED A $20.00 LATE CHARGE
OR MUST BRING PAPERWORK TO THE LEAGUE OFFICE LOCATED AT
303 SUZANNE DEJEAN DRIVE, OPELOUSAS, LA.
WHEN PAPERWORK IS NOT TURNED IN ON TIME—
Skill Levels CANNOT be updated.
Team Points CANNOT be updated.
Team Payments CANNOT be recorded.
THIS IS IN NO WAY AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY!! THE OBJECT IS
TO GET THE PAPERWORK TURNED IN ON TIME!!
THEREFORE:
Should a team fail to turn the paperwork in on time, the traveling team will be assessed
a $20.00 late charge.
EXAMPLE:
According to the Schedule, Team #11 plays Team #12. At the end of the night, Team
#12 (traveling team) collects both of the score sheets and fails to turn in the paperwork
by the designated time. Team #12 pays $20.00 charge.
Please help us to be prompt and efficient. Turn your paperwork in on time and avoid
any unnecessary inconvenience. Thanks!
$$$$ NEAR A PLAYERS NAME
Players who have $$$$$ next to their name owe money to the
OFFICE and MUST pay something towards these “PAST DUES”
in order to play. Please call the Office (337) 407-2267 for further details!
BYES
Three Points (3) are awarded for all BYES in 8-Ball League.
Sixty Points (60) are awarded for all BYES in 9-Ball League.
No Weekly Team Fee is Due for a BYE.
SPLITTING MATCHES
Normally, a team match is played on only one table. Occasionally, lengthy
matches make it logical to put a second table in action, if one is available.
So, if the fourth match has not started two hours after league play began,
then it would begin on the second table. The fifth match would then be
played on whichever table becomes available first.
Just as Splitting Matches is WAIVED if both teams want to continue on
one table, it should also be AGREED upon to split matches. A Team
should not try to manipulate another team by forcing them to split
matches. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP MUST BE EXERCISED AT ALL
TIMES!
How To Speed Up Nightly League Play:

Teams should take no longer than three (3) minutes
when choosing the next player.


Teams should be on time and ready to play.
Coaching/Time-Out periods should not exceed one (1) minute.
Players: Be ready to shoot when it is your turn so
you don’t slow down the match. Have your cue ready, have
enough quarters for the table, get your drink,
go to the restroom, etc., and be ready to begin
your match as soon as the previous match is over.

ATTENTION:
8 BALL TEAM CAPTAINS
**Please inform your players of possible penalties—
**It is the Team Captain’s responsibility for having his/her
team at the appointed place on time.
A forfeit will result if no one has showed up within
15 minutes after league play is scheduled to begin.
It is especially unfair to the
teams that follow al the rules
and work hard to try to make
Play-Offs and then in the last
2 weeks of play a team who
has not done that great
suddenly decides not to show
up and just give 5 forfeit
points. So, in the last 2 weeks
of play the following
penalties may result…

ONLY 3 Forfeit POINTS
will be awarded to a
team.

AUTOMATIC 2 WEEK
SUSPENSION of any
player who does not show
up and a forfeit results. It
is the player’s responsibility to show up or make
sure the team has enough
players!

UPON RE-ENTRY the
League Operator must be
contacted immediately.
The player must make
arrangements to pay his/
her share of all past dues
in order to be allowed to
play that night.
**A team may begin play with only one player present.
The other team must not deny that player from playing.
You joined to play and NOT to receive forfeits.
On occasion, a team may need to Re-schedule. The team
wishing to re-schedule should notify the opposing team’s
Captain ASAP and request to re-schedule. The opposing
team should make every effort to reschedule! **A team
match may be rescheduled only upon notification and approval
from the League Office. SEE RESCHEDULING POLICY.
DELIBERATE FORFEITS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND SHOULD
BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEAGUE OFFICE.
If the League Office is satisfied that the receiving team
conspired to receive deliberate forfeit point, then the points
will not be counted. Depending on the situation and
evidence, either or both teams may be subject to other
penalties!
A TEAM WHO HAS A HISTORY OF FORFEITS EARLY IN THE
SESSION MAY FACE THE FOLLOWING—
The player who continually does not show up will not be
allowed to join another team the next session and may be
required to sit out one full session! **Therefore, if you want
to play the next session you must show up this session & play!

Sportsmanship
Good sportsmanship is fundamental to the
success of any game. Friendly competition is
encouraged in the APA league; however a
respectable poolplayer knows when to leave
the table should good sportsmanship go bad.
Our Official Team Manual says: “Good Sportsmanship is essential in pocket billiards as in
any sport. Repeated complaints against you
can lead to cancellation of your membership in
the APA. In addition, if you disrupt the League
by consistently arguing and disagreeing with
League rules and policies, you may face loss of
membership.”
Think about the poor message you send out
about your team when you or someone on your
team behaves badly. The next time your
opponent misses a ball or makes a mistake,
instead of cheering, display good
sportsmanship by saying a sincere “Good try”—
or keep your comments to yourself!
Most importantly remember:
In the game of pool, WIN without gloating and
LOSE without complaining.
A FEW EXAMPLES OF POOR SPORTSMANSHIP—
 Cheering when your opponent misses the
ball.
 Making rude comments and gestures toward
the opposing team or a particular player.
 Arguing with your opposing team over rules
and policies.
ALL COMPLAINTS WILL BE
TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND MUST BE
FILED IN THE
FOLLOWING MANNER:
