DuPont™ FirstShot® SG burndown herbicide With TotalSol® soluble granules Preplant burndown Growers in the southern U.S. can use DuPont™ FirstShot® SG herbicide, a short residual, non-volatile glyphosate tank-mix partner for enhanced control of Pennsylvania smartweed, curly dock and chickweed before planting cotton, corn, soybeans, sorghum, rice or other crops. The benefits of using FirstShot® SG herbicide n Improved control of problem weeds n Clean seedbed at planting n Better stand establishment of the desired crop n Rotational freedom with short preplant intervals Directions for use FirstShot® SG may be used as part of a preplant burndown treatment, in combination with other suitable registered preplant herbicides (such as Roundup). Apply FirstShot® SG at least 14 days prior to planting cotton. Read and follow all manufacturers’ label recommendations for the companion herbicide. If those recommendations conflict with these instructions, do not tank mix the herbicide with FirstShot® SG. n Apply FirstShot® SG at 0.5 to 0.8 ounce per acre for control of chickweed, curly dock, Pennsylvania smartweed, swinecress and wild mustard. n Always include a spray adjuvant with FirstShot® SG. n When applying 0.5 to 0.6 ounce per acre, FirstShot® SG must be used in combination with another registered burndown herbicide. n For control of Carolina geranium, common ragweed, cutleaf eveningprimrose, henbit, marestail and wild garlic, apply FirstShot® SG, at a rate of 0.6 to 0.8 ounce per acre, in a tank mix that also includes glyphosate and 2,4-D ester. Refer to the “Specific Weed Problems” section of the label for complete instructions. Time Interval Before Planting* (days after treatment with FirstShot® SG) FirstShot® SG herbicide may be applied prior to planting the following crops: Crop Days Barley, rice, triticale and wheat (including durum) 0 Soybeans 7 Cotton, field corn, and grain sorghum 14 Any other crop 45 Spray adjuvants If another herbicide is tank mixed with FirstShot® SG to increase the broadleaf weed spectrum, select adjuvants based on the adjuvant limitations of the companion herbicide. Non-ionic surfactant (NIS): Apply at a rate (concentration) of 0.25-0.50 percent v/v (2 to 4 pints per 100 gallons spray solution). Crop oil concentrate (COC): Under dry conditions or during cool weather, a petroleum-based COC, or vegetable-seed oil-based product may be used in place of a non-ionic surfactant at 1 gallon per 100 gallons of spray solution (1 percent v/v) to enhance weed control. Ammonium nitrogen fertilizer: An ammonium nitrogen fertilizer can be added to enhance control. Alternatively, a high-quality, sprayable grade of ammonium sulfate (21-0-0) may be used. Important n *R efer to individual product labels to determine rotational crop restrictions when tank mixtures are used. Where FirstShot® SG is used on light textured soils, such as sands, loamy sands and sandy loams, extend time to planting by 7 additional days. Where FirstShot® SG is used on high pH soils (>7.9), extend time to planting by 7 additional days. Before using FirstShot® SG, read and follow all applicable directions, restrictions and precautions on the EPAregistered label.
