Quality & Value
he NORPAC tradition is a commitment to old-fashioned 'seed to plate' quality
control of each product, and a serious dedication to finding innovative ways to
ensure optimum value for every customer.
The story begins in 1924, when an Oregon cooperative
of growers formed North Pacific Canners and Packers, and
introduced the FLAV-R-PAC® brand that would become the
quality standard for vegetables and fruits. Two decades later,
the company's grower-owners led the way in developing
America's newest food processing technology by installing
a quick-freezing unit. By the 1950's, NORPAC frozen and
canned products were available across America.
Today, NORPAC continues to lead the way, setting ever
higher standards for foodservice. Starting with specially
developed seeds, our 220 grower-owner families raise a
vast array of crops on thousands of acres in Oregon and
the Pacific Northwest. Carefully controlling each step in
the process, NORPAC products now go from harvest in the
field, through processing and freezing, to packaging in one
of five state-of-the-art processing plants - all in less than
four hours!
In the 1970's, NORPAC introduced a new concept to
foodservice, 'value-added' products. These were products
that were already mixed, offering customers two or more
vegetables in the same package. It was a first step that
would to lead to an array of vegetable blends like the
FLAV-R-PAC Beautiful Vegetables, Stir Fry Vegetables and
Grande Classics Vegetables you'll find in this Guide.

satisfying taste. One look at the small ‘beadlets’ tells you
this broccoli was picked and individually quick frozen at
the peak of harvest, before it has started to flower and
grow tough.
Premium Poly Wet Pack*
FLAV-R-PAC grows super-premium quality broccoli in
Mexico, and processes it in a very special way that sets
it apart from all others. Premium Poly Wet Pack Broccoli
is frozen so quickly no ice crystals can form to damage
the delicate taste, texture or color. It is then packaged
in small, easy to handle and store poly bags. Premium
Poly Wet Pack Broccoli marks a dramatic improvement
over any other conventional frozen product, and
compares favorably with the finest fresh products.
Broccoli Notes
Overly mature broccoli will be tough to fibrous, and have a very strong
taste. Large heads and loose beadlets indicate a product past its peak.
FLAV-R-PAC broccoli is quality controlled from seed to table, ensuring
it will be picked, processed and packed at the appropriate moment.
