Under its conductor Paul Hillier, CCI will present an exciting and unique programme for Festival audiences. A newly comissioned piece from composer Ian Wilson will be premiered on the night in addition to a premier performance of the winning composition from the 2015 Seán Ó Riada Competition for Irish Composers. 15% discount price €17 (€20 normally) Friday 1st May 2015, 10.30pm, Cathedral of St. Mary & St. Anne (North Cathedral): EVOCATIONS - VocaMe Evocations, our late night concert, noted for its sacred and reflective atmosphere presents one of the foremost exponents of early vocal music, VocaMe from Germany. This Munich based ensemble formed one of four female soloists, and accompanied by Michael Popp on period instruments, will feature music of the medieval composers Hildegard Von Bingen and Kassia. Judged by a panel of eminent musicians and choral experts, the competition is presented in a concert format and features music from Renaissance to contemporary and compositions from each choir’s home country.
