Born For This
Cardinal Griffin Cycling Club
Our Liturgy and Worship Group teamed up with
some of the extremely talented pupils from St
Mary’s Catholic Primary School to perform music
and readings from the production of Born for
This.
We spent Sunday afternoon at St Mary’s Church
rehearsing for the 18:30hrs service. Thank you to
all of you who were in attendance and
supported our students remembering the
Passion of Our Lord.
We raised £140 for CAFOD, thanks to donations
after the liturgy.

College Prayers for the week
Morning Prayer
Evening Prayer
Weekly Prayer
Lord, teach me to be generous:
to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the
cost;
to fight and not to heed the
wounds;
to toil and not to seek to rest;
to labour and to ask for no
reward
save that of knowing I do your
will.
Amen
May the Lord support us
all the day long,
till the shadows lengthen,
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.
Then, in his mercy,
may he give us
a safe lodging,
a holy rest,
and peace at last.
Amen
God of plenty and
of scarcity we pray for a
world of more: more hunger,
less starvation; more diversity,
less difference; more power,
less dominance;
more prayer, less apathy;
more riches, less wealth;
more conversations,
less words; more sharing,
less dividing;
more appreciation,
more compassion,
more love;
O Lord, more love.
Amen.

Lay Chaplain’s message
THE GIFT OF THE CROSS
In the ancient world the cross was a symbol of oppression, brutal punishment and abject
humiliation. Jesus transformed this dark and despicable instrument of torture into a sign of God’s
light, life, wisdom, mercy and love. The cross reveals God’s love for us. “But God demonstrates his
own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Holy Week is a
time to contemplate the gift of the Cross of Love and come into contact with the depths and
heights of God’s love, mercy and forgiveness.
We glorify and rejoice in the gift of the cross, the cross of love. I wish you all a safe and peaceful
Easter break.
