Purpose of Role Spark Inside’s Director of Fundraising will hold responsibility for leading both the strategic development and growth of fundraising whilst developing and managing a rigorous communication plan capable of generating income and maintaining a strong brand. The Director of Fundraising is a newly created position and will become the fourth member of the senior management team alongside the CEO, Managing Director and Director of Coaching. S/he will work closely with the CEO to strategically identify and diversify Spark Inside’s income streams supported by a Grant Writer and Engagement Manager. In addition s/he will oversee and implement all Spark Inside’s internal and external marketing and communications strategies, supported by marketing volunteers. Key Tasks/Responsibilities Strategy Creating, managing and implementing an effective three year strategic fundraising and marketing plan, including major donor philanthropy, commissioning, grants and social impact bonds, with a target of raising £1million in the first year. Developing and delivering a full strategic review of fundraising, involving analysis and widespread stakeholder consultation and presenting findings and recommendations to Senior Management Team and Trustees. Developing and managing a rigorous communication plan that facilitates regular correspondence and engagement with all funders (including commissioners, foundations and major donors) and contracting partners. Funding Commissioning: Identifying commissioning opportunities from government departments (e.g. the Ministry of Justice and Department for Health), Community Rehabilitation Companies, Resettlement Consortia, and European Social Fund providers. Managing the procurement process including writing and delivering bids, tenders and proposals, whilst maintaining a proficiency of present market conditions. Attending relevant consortium meetings to ensure that Spark Inside’s contracting partnerships are robust, effective and sustainable in line with the departmental and organisational objectives. Major Donor Philanthropy: Managing major donor philanthropy by growing the Fundraising Ambassadors (individuals who commit to raising £10,000 per year), developing supper clubs, and increasing donations from high net worth individuals. Broadening Spark Inside’s fundraising portfolio combining strategic thinking and excellent communication skills to translate opportunities into clear plans of action. Grants and Foundations: With the support of the grant-writer, identifying, scrutinising and pursuing opportunities for foundation funding. Writing robust and logical reports to meet or exceed funders’ monitoring requirements, broaden funders’ horizons and extend their interest in Spark Inside’s work. Communications Driving the effective marketing of Spark Inside by developing, managing and implementing a robust organisational marketing strategy that informs departmental and organisational objectives and ensures the charity is a leader and trusted voice within the criminal justice sector. Responsible for brand management, marketing communications and overseeing the creation and dissemination of marketing and promotional materials (e.g annual report, brochures and posters) both internally and externally Working closely with the departmental team to produce marketing content (eg, annual report, major donor event communication, website upgrades) in line with Spark Inside’s strategic direction. Managing and analysing donors and stakeholders engagement through Salesforce CRM. 2: PERSON SPECIFICATION The right person will share a passion for our cause, and a commitment to high standards of delivery. S/he will be determined, resilient and persistent with a strong track record in hitting ambitious fundraising targets whilst understanding the principles of maintaining a strong brand. S/he will enjoy working in a fast-paced start-up culture and have a flair for innovation. Knowledge of Government commissioning processes; Experience of creating effective communications materials; Previous experience working within criminal justice; Experience using Salesforce CRM; Experience using In Design; Experience using Wordpress. 3 : ABOUT SPARK INSIDE “Spark Inside can give you self-belief and help you see how you can be happy with your life again” Hero’s Journey Graduate, 19 Spark Inside’s Life Coaching Programmes Spark Inside uses professional life coaching to facilitate a more productive, fulfilling and rehabilitative culture throughout the criminal justice system. Life coaching is individualised and asset-based, empowering clients to think and take action on their own, supporting long-term self-sufficiency. We do this through the following programmes: Hero’s Journey Life Coaching programme for young people leaving prison The Process coaching workshop for prisoners and Prison Officers Hero’s Journey Life Coaching The Hero’s Journey programme supports young people aged 15-25 in or leaving prison, helping them to create more fulfilling and productive futures while reducing reoffending. Our programme begins in prison with the 3-part Hero’s Journey Coaching Workshop, which encourages participants to move from feeling like victims of circumstance, to empowered agents of positive change in their lives, through building resilience and planning for future goals. After these workshops, clients can sign up to follow-on one-to-one life coaching, which follows their release back in the community. Coaches facilitate to enable clients to identify goals for meaningful education, employment and training opportunities, disengage from crime, pursue health treatment, etc. Our approach is evidence-based: an independent evaluation showed an 8% reoffending rate, 6 monthspost-release; previous research showed a 12.5% reoffending rate after 1 year. We aim to coach 200 young people in prison in 2016/17. The Process The Process uses a strand of systems coaching called Deep Democracy. The workshop aims to effect change at a systemic level, working with up to 50 prisoners, prison officers and other prison staff in the same space. The workshop builds empathy and identifies positive solutions to challenges by giving all stakeholders a voice and the opportunity to adopt alternative viewpoints. Culture at Spark Inside Spark Inside is a values-driven organisation committed to personal development and growth of all staff. Staff members have an annual budget for training in addition to internal team coaching and courses. Previous training has included leadership, communication, and time and stress management. In addition, we have a staff wellness programme that provides access to a life coach, fresh fruit in the office, monthly team socials, an annual retreat and gym membership to staff earning less than £30k per year. In 2017 we will be implementing a staff pension scheme. Currently a team of 7 talented and dedicated staff, the Director of Fundraising is a dynamic new role and will join the CEO, Managing Director and Director of Coaching as part of the senior management team. 4: INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS The following is to assist you through the application process as effectively as possible. 1.
