HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
WARNING:
Dust causes eye, nose, and throat irritation.
DANGER:
May cause cancer by inhalation.
Causes damage to lungs through prolonged or repeated exposure by inhalation.
Potential Health Effects:
May cause eye irritation.
May cause irritation and drying of the skin.
May cause irritation to the respiratory tract.
CHRONIC EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE:
Long term exposure to excessive concentrations of dust from products containing crystalline silica may cause delayed (chronic) lung damage
(silicosis). Acute or rapidly developing silicosis may occur in a short period of time in heavy exposure in certain occupations. Silicosis is a form of
disabling pulmonary fibrosis that can be progressive and may lead to death.

FIRST AID MEASURES
Inhalation:
First aid is generally not required. If inhaled and irritation occurs, move victim to fresh air. If irritation persists,
call a physician.
Skin Contact:
First aid not required. In case of contact, wash skin with soap and water.
Eye Contact:
Flush eyes with plenty of water. Do not rub eyes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Ingestion:
First aid is not required.
Important Symptoms/Effects:
Particulates may cause abrasive eye injury. Inhalation of dust may cause respiratory tract irritation. Symptoms
of exposure may include cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, sneezing, wheezing and shortness of breath.
Prolonged inhalation of respirable crystalline silica above certain concentrations may cause lung diseases,
including silicosis and lung cancer.

FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media:
No special media required.
Flammability:
This product is not flammable.
Fire-Fighting:
No special protective equipment required.
6.
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal Precautions:
Wear appropriate protective clothing and respiratory protection. Avoid generating airborne dust during cleanup.
Environmental Precautions:
No specific precautions.
Clean-Up:
Avoid dry sweeping. Do not use compressed air. Use water spraying/flushing or ventilated HEPA filtered vacuum
cleaning system, or wet before sweeping. Dispose of in closed containers.
7.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
SAFE HANDLING:
Avoid generating dust. Do not breathe dust. Do not rely on your sight to determine if dust is in the air.
Respirable crystalline silica dust may be in the air without a visible dust cloud. Use adequate ventilation and
dust collection to reduce respirable crystalline silica dust levels to below the permissible exposure limits (PEL).
Practice good housekeeping. Do not permit dust to collect on walls, floors, sills, ledges, machinery, or
equipment.
STORAGE:
Keep containers closed and store bags to avoid accidental tearing, breaking, or bursting.
8.
EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

ENGINEERING CONTROLS:
Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to maintain concentrations in the workplace below
applicable exposure limits.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
Wear respiratory protection when exposure limits cannot be maintained below PEL. Particle filter must be
approved for crystalline silica dust and must offer a protection factor that will lower respirable levels below
permissible exposure limits.
HAND PROTECTION:
General use chemical resistant gloves are recommended to protect the skin from drying and irritation.
EYE PROTECTION:
Eye protection with side shields is recommended.
PERSONAL HYGIENE/
WORK PRACTICES:
9.
Establish good personal hygiene and work practices. Always wash hands and face before eating, drinking, or
smoking.
