Khan Academy Algebra I Summer Preparation
Instructions for creating a Khan Academy account and selecting a coach:







Go to www.khanacademy.org
Click Parents, start here
Enter the student’s first name, last name and email address, to which additional
instructions will be sent
Open the email from Khan Academy and click the Finish signing up link to create a
username/password and complete the process
On the Manage Student page, click student id
On the left-hand navigation panel, click Coaches, and choose Mrs. Love as coach:

Click Join Class
Instructions for accessing math programs:


Click LEARN on the left-hand navigation panel and scroll down to Math and 7th
grade (which is where you will begin).
Follow the 50 assignments that begin on the following page, pacing yourself
throughout the summer. Do not wait for the day before school to begin the
assignment.
Instructions for completing Summer Math Prep:




Work the assigned problems without a calculator, unless otherwise stated.
If you struggle with the practice problems, take advantage of the tutorial videos
within each topic. These videos will strengthen your skills and knowledge.
At the beginning of the 2014 school year, you will earn half of a major grade for
completion of the SMP assignments.
On the second day of the 2014 school year, you will be given an assessment on the
topics covered in the SMP. This assessment will be worth the other half of the major
grade and will be recorded in first nine weeks grading period.
