The Danubian limes and its world (01/10/2006-30/06/2008). The project was
part of the ‘‘Scientific Excellence’’ prize (Aristeia) under the title: Byzantiou
katoptron: Sources and Studies on the Byzantine World.
Cultural, social and economic transformations at the Byzantine province of
Scythia Minor during the Late Antiquity (4th-7th c.). During my participation in
the research team (July 2008-November 2009), I recorded a detailed literature on
the Byzantine limes of Scythia Minor (4th-7th c.), following some specific
thematic units.
Since November 2009 participation at the project Byzantine History Data Bank.
My work focuses on the entry of sources relevant to Late Antiquity, as well as
the barbaricum, followed by bibliographical reference, in a data base. (Up to
now the historical work of Priscus, Menander Protector, Jordanes and Excerpta
Valesiana).
Personal research activity with work title: a) The Empire and the Nomads. Image
of the other, cultural influences and integration’s issues (4th-7th c.). b) Morals
and customs of the nomads, 4th-7th c. (from 2014 onwards).
Preparation of a monograph on the history and culture of the Antes (5th-7th c.).
Editorial Assistant of the journal Byzantina Symmeikta.
My activities include also collaboration with Universities/Research Centers
(either as tutor of students or offering some lectures), research trips and summer
schools abroad as well as six months sabbatical leave in Cracow, invited by the
Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology/Polish Academy of Sciences (MayOctober 2011).
