TORSIONALLY SET,
METAL-FORMED LINER HANGER
PowerScrew™ Liner Systems
Downhole tools engineered from the ground up™
THE LINER HANGER DESIGNED FOR
TODAY’S WELL COMPLETIONS
Featuring a simple design with fewer components, the torsionally set PowerScrew™ liner
hanger offers outstanding ease of operation combined with a high degree of reliability and
functionality. This advanced hanger system, employing a patent-pending stretch-forming
technique, provides a superior connection between casing liners and intermediate casing
strings. The PowerScrew’s liner top combines profiled packer elements and hardened slip
wickers, for reliable hanging and sealing performance. In addition, this advanced system’s
running tool delivers superior tensile, compressive, and torsional strength, providing for
successful deployment and target placement of the liner every time.
DESIGNED FOR EASE OF OPERATION AND RELIABILITY
The PowerScrew was designed to address the most pressing issues in well completions today based on its operational efficiency, ease of running, and
reliable setting process. The ease of operation is provided without sacrificing pressure containment, or hanging capacity.
UNIQUE TORSIONALLY SET LINER HANGER
Key Features:
Many advanced liner hangers today require high hydraulic pressure for setting. By
•Unique metal-formed design using helical insets for additional strength

•Simple and reliable mechanical setting process
and efficiently, eliminating the need for high setting pressure. Top drive rotation provides
the energy to helically stretch-form the liner top, allowing the entire hanger body to form
•Integral hardened slip wickers combined with advanced, profiled Viton® packing elements

POWERSCREW SPECIFICATIONS
FOR SETTING IN 9-5/8 in. CASING
The process of deploying and setting the PowerScrew Liner System is simple and straightforward.
Using torsional energy from the top drive in the setting process, the PowerScrew does not require
high pressure for setting that is needed by many conventional hanger systems.
Compression
Setting Tool
•Top Connection: 4-1/2 IF NC-50
•Minimum ID: 2-5/8 in, 6,67 cm
•A spade-nose casing shoe is typically utilized in setting the PowerScrew.
•Maximum Tensile Capacity: 450,000 lb, 2,002kN
•This casing shoe is made up to our unique Latch-Lock™ landing collar.
•Maximum Torque Capacity: 20,000 ft-lb, 27,12Nm
•The top of the PowerScrew is made up with a NC-50 connection, and is run into the hole on
drill pipe to the setting depth.
•Liner Release Pressure: 550–2,200 psi,
3,8–15,2 MPa
•The liner is locked to the drill pipe through the PowerScrew and can be put in tension,
compression, and torqued at will being respectful of the equipment’s mechanical limits.
•Metal Forming Force: 320,000 lb, 1,423kN
•Tag bottom and pick up the string to setting depth.
•Cement Plug Launch Pressure: 335–2015 psi, 2.3–13.9 MPa
•With a rotating cement manifold in place, pump the cement into the drill pipe.
Over-displacement of cement is not recommended.
•Switch the cement manifold to drilling fluids and pump the Latch-Lock dart between the two
fluids. The dart will launch the cement plug at a predetermined pressure below the setting
tool. Pump the Latch-Lock dart and plug assembly into the Latch-Lock landing collar.
•Metal Forming Torque: 3,700 ft-lb, 5,016Nm
Set Liner Top
•Hanger Body IY: 7,355 psi; 50,7 MPa
•Hanger Body Collapse: 5,800 psi, 40 MPa
•As pressure begins to spike, stop pumping the drilling fluid. Drop the steel setting ball and
allow time to seat.
•Maximum Temperature: 300° F, 149° C
•Prepare for the metal forming process by putting the work string into compression and
pressurizing the release mechanism. This action releases the liner from the PowerScrew
setting tool.
•Maximum Pressure Capacity: 4,000 psi, 27,6 MPa
•Apply torque to the string. With the liner released, torsional energy from the string
is transferred to the liner top through the PowerScrew System’s unique multi-lead
rifled mandrel.
•The helically stretched liner top embeds hardened slip wickers with profiled packer
elements directly into the intermediate casing.
•Maximum Hanging Weight: 450,000 lbs, 2,002kN
•Polished Bore Receptacle ID: 6-5/8 in, 16,83 cm
•Polished Bore Receptacle Length: 72 in, 182,9 cm
•Packer Elastomeric Material: Peroxide Cured DuPont™
Viton™ with APA
•Hanger Body Metallic Material: Chrome, Nickel, & Moly
Steel Alloy
•With a sudden drop in torque, the liner top is fully integrated into the intermediate casing.
•The PowerScrew setting tool is ready to be removed from the hole, and the liner is ready to
be pressure tested.
Liner Release
Run In Position
•To pressure test the liner, the setting tool’s burst-disks must be pressurized to allow
circulation. The burst disks are set at a predetermined pressure. With circulation
reestablished, the liner systems can be pressure tested at will.
Assembly as Deployed
•Overall Tool Length: 18.2 ft, 5.55 m
•Overall Tool Weight: 1500lb, 680kg
•Surge Flow Area: 4.1 sq in, 26,5 sq cm
