Bricks 4 Kidz
Amber Jadis leads one hour classes which explore architecture, engineering and technology concepts
using LEGO® Bricks. Students participate in 6 week sessions focused on exciting themes including Space,
Inventions, Famous Buildings, and Natural Disasters!
Fall Session: Fridays, September 23 - November 4 (excluding October 28) 3:15-4:15pm
Spring Session: Fridays, March 31-May 12 (excluding April 14) 3:15-4:15pm
Cost: $75 per session
Enrollment: Minimum 9 & Maximum 20
Yoga
Kenny Lingley, a well-respected instructor in Moksha and Yin, will lead one hour classes on a weekly
bases for a 14 lesson session. Kenny completed his instructor training in Brazil and has been instructing
since 2012. Students participating will benefit from relaxation, strength building, mental focus,
endurance and flexibility that regular yoga practice can provide. This is a wonderful way to increase
understanding and confidence of your body!
Fall Session: Thursdays, September 15 – December 15 3:15-4:15pm
Spring Session: Thursdays, March 2 – June 8th (excluding March 23) 3:15 – 4:15pm

Swimming
Honor Hastey holds her Swim for Life Instructor rating, Bronze Cross, First Aid and CPR. She has two
years of experience at the CFB Shearwater Pool leading children aged three to ten. Honor has four years
of experience participating in Triathlons, yet is smart enough to have only tried one Polar Bear dip!
Progress reports will be provided on these 15 week sessions including recommended Swimmer Levels.

Violin – Private Lessons
Sean Kemp has performed across the world with a multitude of groups and ensembles including The
English Chamber Orchestra, The Academy of St. Martin’s in the Fields, The National Arts Centre
Orchestra, Spirit of the Dance, Anne Murray, Barbara Streisand and multiple East Coast Music Award
Winner/Juno Nominee Lennie Gallant. He was nominated for the East Coast Music Award for Best
Instrumental Album for his debut album Moscow Madness. He is a member of the Atlantic String
Machine. Sean is in growing demand as a composer/arranger, most recently preparing sound tracks for
CBC, TV5 and the National Film Board of Canada.
Sean will offer lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays in half hour time blocks starting at 3:00pm and
ending with the last lesson time of 4:30pm.

Cello – Private Lessons
Natalie Williams Calhoun, currently freelances with the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra,
Atlantic String Machine, Symphony Nova Scotia and the Charlottetown Festival Orchestra. Natalie
worked with the National Ballet Orchestra (Canada), the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, the
Brantford Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra London Canada, as well as performing in England with the
Saskia Piano Trio and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra while completing her Master of Music
degree. Natalie directs the Senior Singing Strings Orchestra in Charlottetown, is a member of the Royal
Conservatory of Music College of Examiners, is a sessional lecturer with UPEI’s Department of Music and
is a member of the PEI Registered Music Teachers.
Natalie will offer lessons as requested in half hour time blocks starting at 3:00pm and ending with the
last lesson time of 4:30pm. The day of week is TBD.

Piano – Private Lessons
Andrea Ellis has worked primarily as a private piano instructor over the past seven years. Andrea is a
Registered Music Teacher (RMT) with the PEI Registered Music Teachers’ Association and a Certified
Teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has been a collaborative pianist, most recently with
Indian River Festival Chorus and Sirens.
Dates: Tuesdays / Wednesdays / Thursdays / Fridays between 3:00 and 5:00pm

Voice – Private Lessons
Andrea Ellis combines her piano experience with voice skills to offer a lesson series including music
theory, piano basic and voice training. Andrea is a founding member of Sirens, PEI’s award-winning
women’s choral ensemble. For three years, she served as the Alto Section leader at Trinity United
Church. Andrea was twice successful through the audition process to represent PEI in the National Youth
Choir of Canada.

Golf
David Bowlan will lead students through the basics of golfing etiquette and technique at the
championship putting greens of All About Golf over an 8 class session. Dave was a 1st Team All American
at Edison Junior College in Fort Myers, Florida in 1983. He was the Louisiana Intercollegiate Champion in
1985 at South-Eastern Louisiana University. He spent five years on Florida Mini-Tours and five years on
the Canadian Tour and has twenty-six years teaching experience!

Spring Session: Monday, January 23 – March 13 3:15 – 4:15pm

Mandarin
Iris Zhu has over eight years of experience in a Shanghai private International school and was recruited
by the Hong Kong government. She will introduce during the 10 week sessions, those new to Mandarin
with structural language basics, calligraphy and conversational basis. Students with Mandarin as a first
or second language will be challenged to further their linguist skills.
Fall Session: Wednesdays, September 28 – November 30 3:15-4:00pm
Spring Session: Wednesdays, February 1 - April 12 3:15-4:00pm

French
Our instructor will lead students through in-depth grammar, reading, writing and cultural aspects of the
French language. Previous experience in French immersion or conversational use of the language is
recommended. The competition for this instructor role is finishing shortly. Note: Candidates have
French as a first language.

Spanish
Karla McIntosh is originally from Mexico City. Having been in PEI for the past six years, Karla first
volunteered as a Spanish Tutor and has since worked with International Summer Camp students.
Continuing her own post-secondary education in Sociology and Diversity Social Justice Studies, Karla
holds a student position as a Spanish Language Assistance with UPEI. Students will have an introduction
to Spanish language structure, reading, conversation and culture.

Culinary
Jeremie Arsenault first began cooking for his large Acadian family of 8 at the age of 12, often trading his
daily chores with his siblings so he could be in the kitchen. At the age of 15, he began working in the
restaurant industry and soon began to dream of opening his own restaurant. After gaining considerable
experience in the food service and events management industry, he began to realize a desire for others
to eat healthy and delicious home cooked meals in spite of their busy schedules. While finishing his
Business Administration degree at Holland College, Jeremie has also accumulated considerable
substitute teaching experience with French Language schools.
Brian Stanton, Executive Chef, is originally from Digby, Nova Scotia, but moved to Charlottetown, PEI to
become a student at the Culinary Institute of Canada. He received his diploma in 2011, then obtained his
Red Seal in 2012. Brian worked as a sous chef at the Big Orange Lunchbox restaurant, where he also met
Jeremie. He moved to the Lucy Maud Dining Room at the Culinary Institute, where he worked as a chef
de partie and as part of the culinary banquet team later on.
Jeremie and Brian will co-facilitate culinary lessons on both the soft and hard skills of cooking over 8
weeks – from meal planning, sourcing local foods, budgeting and planning ahead, students will have
both the opportunity to cook, and know what it means to plan to do so!

Sessions will be filled on a first come first served basis. Please submit an Application & Agreement Form.
Confirmation will be sent via e-mail. You will be invoiced for your selections. Payment is due in full at
the time of the first class of your chosen options.
Sessions are eligible for the Child Fitness Tax Credit and Children’s Arts Tax Credit.
