About the Trade Mission
The trade mission leverages on the RECP’s vast
network of European solar PV, biomass and bioenergy
industry to provide opportunities for Nigerian and
other African private businesses to connect with their
counterparts from Europe, at the heart of the largest
city of Africa’s most populous country.
Matchmaking sessions will enable participants to
identify new business opportunities, exchange
know-how, and find partners for joint business
development. To catalyse the discussion, RECP will
invite Nigerian and international financiers, including
commercial and development banks, as well as
governmental stakeholders to maximise the impact
of the trade mission.
The trade mission will consist of up to 20 companies
from Nigeria, five companies from other African
countries, and 15 European companies from the solar
and biomass energy sector.

Market Overview
TUE 04
Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country. The overall
country electrification rate is around 45%. In Nigeria,
a majority of companies rely on diesel generators for
their electricity supply. Of the total energy consumed
by Nigerian industries only 4% is from grid-connected
electricity. 96% is self-produced electricity. About 86%
of the businesses in Nigeria own or share a generator.
Estimates suggest that between 8 and 14 GW of
decentralised diesel generator capacity is currently
installed in the country. Here, solar and biomass
energy can help to reduce dependency on fuel while
improving companies’ profitability. The agri-food
sector, especially the processing of rice, cassava, and
palm oil, also has a great potential for bioenergy
technologies.
Cost of Participation
Participation is free of charge but registration
is required. Travel expenses are not covered by
the RECP.
