MRS. BELL’S 4TH GRADE BLACKHAWK ELEMENTARY
This region book is a cumulative project that will show what the students
learned about the regions of the United States and individual states. Each book will
feature student generated chapters for the states within that region. This project
allows students to apply skills that have been learned throughout the year such as
researching, note taking, writing and technology skills.

The state region is Southeast.The bordering states are Texas, Oklahoma,
Missouri, Tennessee, Louisiana,and Mississippi. The low is 50 degrees. The capital
in Arkansas is Little Rock. The population is 2,388,000 people and is 52,078 square
mile long.

The state earns its money by poultry. An example would be Egg, and Soy Beans.
Another example would be Rice, Hogs, and Milk. The state earns part of its money by
poultry and another part by Penny Stocks. Them are the two ways they state earns
money.

Arkansas was the 25th or middle state to join the United States. Arkansas became a
state on June,15,1836. When Arkansas became a state there were mostly Indians and
Native Americans in it. Later on Americans decided to move to Arkansas and other
places in the U.S.A.

There are a lot of facts about Florida. Florida is in the Southeast region. The
capitol of Florida is Tallahassee. There are more states in the southeast. Florida is a
small state but there are lots of things to do. A lot of people enjoy Florida because
the weather is nice but not all of the time. Sometimes there are hurricanes,and just
rainy days that makes nice days, bad days.

Florida gets most of its money from service industries like their amusement
parks, finance companies, insurance and real estate companies. The also earn
money from lots of retail stores that sell oil, citrus, fruits, and liquor.

In Florida most people go to the beach for vacations and sometimes they"ll go
for other things. The most exciting thing that people would go to Florida to do and
for there kids to see is Walt Disney. He is the man that made all the disney cartoon
characters and he made everything Disney.

Mississippi first became a state on December,10,1817. Mississippi is the
20th state of the U.S.A. There are 11 states bordering Mississippi. They are
Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Mississippi is also famous for
the Delta blues. The largest city in Mississippi is Jackson. The population in 2010
was 2,978,512. The Capitol of Mississippi is Jackson. Usually it is always hot the
there. The devastating temperatures can reach up to 100 degrees and up. In
Mississippi there was a world war 2 the USAAF (United States Army Air Force)
established numerous airfields in Mississippi anti submarine defense of the Gulf of
Mexico. Also, the land that Mississippi has is mostly grass and farmlands.

Mississippi's economy is not all that great. Mississippi mostly makes all there money off
of cotton,sales taxes, license, and permit fees. Also, the resources help them make
money including oranges, tobacco, sugarcane, peanuts, soybeans, peaches, and corn.
So really there actually NOT all that poor if you think about it.

Mississippi has a great sports team called the Ole Miss Rebels. They were phenomenal
football players. With a whole lot of activity. Ole Miss has won six southeastern
conference titles including 1954, 1955, 1960, 1962,1963 and 1974. Also, they claimed
three other national championships in 1959, 1960, 1962. Then they won the 2008 BCS
national champion against the Florida Gators 31-30 in Gainesville,Florida at the Ben Hill
Griffin stadium.

South Carolina is a small state from where you see on this map but in South Carolina
there can be big places you can go. Did you know that south Carolina is the 8th state.
In South Carolina there are 4,012,012 people. The state capital of SC is Columbia. The
date time my state became a state is May23,1788. My state has a state song it's called
Carolina.

The way that south Carolina earns money is by growing tobacco, poultry,
cattle,dougybeans, hogs and dairy products. They also have the following businesses
in their states for chemical products, paper products, machinery and lots of tourism.
