The objectives of this course will ask the students to delve deeper into their imaginations and critical thinking skills. It will create a well of knowledge that the students can drink from as often as they like and develop a forward thinking process that will enhance their communication skills, both verbally and non-verbally. Grading: Student’s grade will be comprised of the following with the following Weights: Group/partner collaborative planning and work Class Assignments & Projects Quizzes, Tests Presentations Lab Hours Grading Scale Semester grades will be awarded on a percent scale as follow: 100-94% = A 76-74% = C 93-90% = A73-70% = C89-87% = B+ 69-67% = D+ 86-84% = B 68-64% = D 83-80% = B 63-60% = D79-77% = C+ Under 60% = F Lessons by week 20% 20% 20% 20% 20% Theater 2 Course Outline/Syllabus Semester 1 August 17th, 2015 Week 1-August 17th-21st Introductions and begin reading “The Great Gatsby” Week 2- August 24th-28th Begin Arsenic and Old Lace- Representational Theatre Design Begin reading Arsenic and Old Lace Historical Research of time period [Papers due following week] Week 3- Aug. 31st-Sept. 4th Work on design elements for the play- Costumes and Scenery [Historical Research Papers due] Week 4- September 8th-11th Continue working on Design [Costume designs and Set/Scene designs due Friday] Week 5- September 14th-18th Begin Researching 1940’s and World War II [The music the fashion and the architecture] Historical Research of time period [Papers due following week] Week 6- September 21st-25th Design a Representational look of Radio City Music Hall’s interior in 1940’s Week 7- Sept. 28th-Oct. 2nd Work on costume and set/scenic designs for Radio City Music Hall and 1940’s Week 8- October 5th-9th Complete designs of Radio City Music Hall and 1940’s Costumes Week 9- October 12th-16th Read- Crucible Begin new Representational designs “The Crucible” Assign scenes students must memorize and act out the scenes as well as design the set and costumes for this scene Week 10- October 19th-23rd Continue design and acting Research papers -the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy Trials Week 11- October 26th-30th Continue design and acting of the Crucible [Research papers due] Week 12- November 2nd-6th Scene designs and acting due.
