September Newsletter
Welcome back! We hope that everyone is healthy and you’ve all been able to have quality family
time together. May we also send our best wishes to you all; we are looking forward to working
closely with everyone in our school family during our new school year.
New Faces
We would like to welcome our new starters into our school family, including 11 new Reception
children and three children in other classes. We hope that you will enjoy your time with us. We
also welcome Miss Richardson (Willow Class Teacher) and Mrs Mitchell (Admin Officer) and
look forward to working closely with them both.
Morning Routine
Please ensure that your child arrives at school no earlier
than 8:45 as there is no playground supervision until this
time. The morning bell will ring just before 9am, so
children can line up and get inside ready for registration.
Once the children have lined up, we ask that you remain
on the playground, away from the path, and allow the
teachers to escort the children into school.
Meet the Teacher
You are invited to our ‘Meet the Teacher’
evening on Tuesday 20th September 6pm – 7pm.
This will be an opportunity for you to meet with
your child’s class teacher and experience a
glimpse of what goes on in our school.
School Office
As Mrs Mitchell is new to this role and will take
time to learn faces and families, please ensure
that all correspondence and monies are sealed
in an envelope with the child’s name clearly
written on the front and what the money is for.
Dinner Money
All dinners (KS2 children) must be paid for in
advance. Therefore, dinner money must be
brought into school each Friday for the
following week. This is a change to the current
system of bringing money in on Mondays.
Homework
Each child will now receive a homework book to record spelling
and maths homework. The focus for all homework will be in
children consolidating key skills of reading, spelling and mental
or written maths. Homework will be given out on a Friday to be
returned on a Wednesday, starting 16th September.
End of the Day
To help us ensure that children are
dismissed to the appropriate adult and
alleviate the congestion outside the
hall, Willow Class and Holly Class will
now be dismissed from the courtyard
outside Holly Class cloakroom.

Here is a reminder of our school uniform which can be purchased from The Uniform and Leisurewear
Company (01524 388355):

In terms of jewellery, only one pair of small stud earrings and a watch are permitted; however, both must be
removed before sports lessons. Children are not allowed to wear nail varnish, temporary tattoos or hair
colouring in school and any child with long hair must have it tied up.
School Friends
Last yearmthe School Friends did a truly magnificent job of not only raising money, but helping us to unite as
a school family at so many events. We are now seeking to recruit a new School Friends Committee,
including: Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. If you would like to become a committee member, please attend
the annual meeting on Wednesday 28th September at 3:15pm.
Collective Worship
Our theme for this half term is ‘The Gift of Life’ where we will be looking at the Christian
value of ‘Creativity.’ If you would like to join us in Collective Worship, you are more than
welcome. We hold Worship at 9:10am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the school
hall and in church on Tuesday.
Punctuality and Attendance
Children should be punctual in their arrival to school as well as ready and equipped to learn. If your child is
absent, please contact the school office on the first day of absence and follow this up with a written
explanation on your child’s return. If no reason for absence is given, it will be recorded as unauthorised.
‘Application for Leave of Absence’ forms are available at the school office by request. These must be
completed in thorough detail to explain the exceptional circumstances. There is no automatic entitlement
to holiday leave; therefore parents must seek school’s permission before taking their child out of school.
Family holidays will not be authorised.
Medicines in School
We will only allow medicines which have been prescribed by a
doctor to be administered in school. Therefore, if your child requires
medicines, such as Calpol without prescription, during the school
day a parent must come to school and administer it themselves.
Parents must complete a medical form for all prescribed medicines
administered in school. The form can be downloaded from our
website or a copy can be requested from the School Office.
