According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Workplace
Violence is “any act or threat
of physical violence, harassment, intimidation or other
threatening, disruptive behavior that occurs at the
work site. (https://
www.osha.gov/SLTC/
workplaceviolence/)”
Vanderbilt University Medical
Center is committed to
providing a safe place for our
patients, our visitors, and our
staff/employees.
Vanderbilt University Medical
Center is committed to being
proactive in our response to
Workplace Violence, not just
reactive to specific events.
Vanderbilt and OSHA are trying to capture more accurate
information about the frequency and types of Workplace Violence events.

event could be related to
workplace violence.
THE QUESTION:
Is this a workplace violence
event?
There are several reasons for

Veritas used for Workers’ Comp
The VERITAS automated process
has increased efficiency in our
workers’ compensation claims
process in a number of
ways. Historically, our data entry
FTE would spend on average 10
minutes reviewing and inputting
a paper form First Report of
Work Injury. With the automated
VERITAS process it is as simple as
reviewing and clicking a button
which converts the VERITAS submission into the IVOS workers’
compensation claim database as
a claim.
The VERITAS form is more efficient and secure in gathering the
data as well. The information
entered by the employee is password protected for the user. The
VERITAS form also allows us to
gather more information above
and beyond that of the 1st report
of work injury paper form. Quicker, faster more accurate and
detailed information/data helps
with every aspect of the claim
process.
