Are you ready for Game
Day?!? Our high tech and energetic scavenger hunt is sure to be a day of fun, all centered
on heart health. We are THRILLED to have you and your team be a part of this event &
cannot wait to share what we have in store. Below, please find a list of helpful hints for
game day!
Parking at Game Central
Free parking is available at the San Clemente Presbyterian Church, right where Game Central
is! 119 Avenida De La Estrella San Clemente, CA 92672 Please park your car in the
North lot, overflow will be the South lot, follow the signs and make your way to Game
Central. It will be easy to find as it will be where all of the music is coming from!
Hydration and Snacks
Water will be available at Game Central, however, we highly recommend you bring your own
water bottle & have a heart-healthy breakfast before you arrive. It’s important to stay
hydrated and well-nourished - you don’t want unnecessary pit stops to slow you down!
Clothing
Comfortable, weather appropriate clothing is a MUST. Meteorologists are saying that
Saturday will be in the low 80’s with not a cloud in the sky… it will be WARM! Also, wear
athletic shoes as HeartChase San Clemente is designed to make you move. So lace up those
running shoes and get ready to play!
Wacky costumes are
encouraged!!!
There will be a prize for the team with the wackiest costume
– voting will be determined by crowd applause!
Got Donations?
Make sure to turn your cash and check donations in at registration, and we’ll credit them to
your team on the event website after the event. All participants who fundraise and/or
personally make a donation totaling $50+ will receive an event t-shirt at registration. At the
Game Central Registration Table, we will be accepting donations in all forms: cash, check,
money order and credit card. We will also have a table where you can make a one-time $10
personal donation to honor a loved one who has been affected by heart disease and stroke to
receive a TORCH.
TORCH – Make a one-time event day donation of $10
A torch is said to represent a journey filled with bravery, enlightenment, love and hope. The
torch is an integral part of who we tell the world we are as an organization, and now will
become a visible part of HeartChase. The visibility of the torch represents bravery & love,
while the revenue helps fund our journey towards enlightenment & hope. Note that all $10
TORCH donations will be a general event donation and will be separate from event
registration and fundraising.
Smart Phone and Required Apps
One member of your team must have a smart phone (iPhone OR Droid). Before game day,
please download the free HeartChase app and a free QR code reader app. There will
be volunteers on hand at Game Central to assist you with setting up your phone. We will
have paper play in case of cell phone failure.
The HeartChase app is your checkpoint guide — where your team works together to
complete the activity and score points. The QR code reader app allows you to scan points
after successful completion of the checkpoints and when you find Hidden Treasure QR codes.
Be sure to turn on GPS on your smartphone.
Checkpoints and Hidden Treasure
The 11 checkpoints for HeartChase are scattered around a shy ½ mile square radius of
beautiful San Clemente and are designed for fun! But shh … they’re top secret. You and
your team will use your HeartChase app to find each checkpoint and complete the wacky,
wonderful, and heart healthy challenges. The most successful teams will be the ones that
work together, encourage one another, and strategize. The game will begin promptly at
10:00 AM and end at 11:30 AM. Also along the course, look out for Hidden Treasure QR
codes. They may be hidden in local retailer windows, hidden at certain checkpoint, in trees,
on the side of buildings, or at your feet! When you find one, scan it with your smart phone
to collect more points for your team! There will be a Bonus QR code in Game Central 10
minutes before the end of the game, so you’ll want to complete your challenges with enough
time to return to Game Central and get these additional points!
Hidden Treasures = 40 points each
CHECKPOINT Challenges = 400 points each
Final Bonus Donation at Game Central = 1,200 points
Volunteers
During the game, if you need assistance, have a question or need a little encouragement,
event volunteers will be on hand. We promise they’re very helpful and nice, so don’t be
shy! We want you to enjoy this event as much as we have enjoyed putting it
together. Please keep safety in mind at all times! If you require any medical attention,
please find the nearest volunteer to assist you.
