This guide is specifically for downloading eAudiobooks to MP3 players. If you have a mobile device (Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, etc.) see the separate guide Download eBooks and Audiobooks to your Smartphone or Tablet OverDrive Media Console is necessary to transfer eAudiobooks to your MP3 player. To download this software, see the separate guide Download OverDrive Media Console for Windows or Download OverDrive Media Console for Mac 1. In your computer’s web browser, open www.cadl.org/downloads. 2. Select OVERDRIVE. 3. The MCLS OverDrive Library will open. Choose Sign In, in the upper right hand corner. Type in or select Capital Area District Library from the list of libraries. 4. Sign In with your library card number. Enter your complete library card number and select Sign In. Select Remember my login information on this device if you want this information saved for future use. You can also choose to sign in with OverDrive or Facebook. 5. Browse for a book by making a selection under Subjects, Collections, Kids, or Teen. Search for a specific title or author by pressing the magnifying glass and typing in your search in the box to the left. www.cadl.org/overdriveaudiohelp 1/27/17 6. Click on the book you’d like to borrow. You can choose how long you would like to borrow the book (7, 14, or 21 days), listen to a sample, or see a description. If the book is not available, the button will say Place a Hold. Enter your email address after selecting Place a Hold and you will receive an email when the book is available for you. 7. After you select Borrow, click on My Account and Loans. Select Download MP3 Audiobook. If a title is available to request again (renew), the option will become available within 3 days of expiration. You will NOT have overdue fines from an eAudiobook. 8. A Device Compatibility Notice will pop-up. Select OverDrive App if you do not have this program installed. Install the OverDrive App for Windows or Mac using the separate guide Download OverDrive Media Console for Windows or Download OverDrive Media Console for Mac. 9. If OverDrive Media Console is installed, the book will open. Save the eAudiobook file in the default location by selecting OK. 10. Select which parts of the audiobook you would like to download. Select OK. The download may take several minutes. 1. Connect your iPod or MP3 player to your computer using your USB cable. Select the title and click Transfer. 2. The OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard will find your MP3 player, click Next. Select which parts you would like to transfer, click Next. 3. If you are transferring to an iPod (not an iPod Touch), you may be prompted to set your device to Manually manage music and change your Import Settings to Spoken Podcast. A transfer wizard will guide you through this process. 4. The audiobook may take a few minutes to download depending on size. When it has transferred, select Finish and disconnect the MP3 player from the computer. MP3 titles can be returned early. Select the title in OverDrive Media Console and select Delete.
