Frequently asked questions: Q I am leaving the house a few weeks early, can you check my room before or just after I leave? A Unless you are leaving more than 21 days before the end of the tenancy, the answer is no. The University will want to inspect the whole of the property after the last person leaves. Q What happens about payment of the final utility bills? A You will need to contact the utility companies before you leave to ask about their arrangements for giving final readings. The utility companies will require a forwarding address to send the final invoice: this cannot be the University as under data protection they will not give any information to the University. Request a copy of the bills to ensure that the meter readings are correct so that you are paying the correct amount. Please remember, we cannot take responsibility for any items left in the property. If they are for the next academic year, they must be clearly labelled to this effect or they will be disposed of.
