iQ-Top
Climate regulating render with pronounced, high
adsorption and release of humidity, diffusion-open,
capillary active and thermal insulating
Range of use
iQ-Top is a reinforcement and
finishing render in the iQ-Therm
system.
Two layers are applied as a sorption layer and as a surface for finishing and decorating, bedding iQTex in between to produce a layer
10-15 mm thick.
Property profile
iQ-Top is suitable for layers 10 to
15 mm thick. Once iQ-Top has
hardened, it is water vapour permeable and has high capillary
conductivity. It also has favourable
deformation behaviour, low weight
per unit area and raises the temperature of interior wall surfaces
because of its thermal insulation
properties. Increased relative humidity in the layer of air near the
surface is thus reduced which prevents germination of spores in
damp areas above the dew point.
iQ-Top is water resistant and has
high water storage capacity.
Substrate
The iQ-Therm Insulation Panels
must be free of material that could
interfere with the adhesion of the
render (e.g. dust, loose material,
release agents, etc.)

Directions
Pour approx. 6.5 - 6.8 litres of
water into a clean container/mortar
tub, add 20 kg iQ-Top and mix
thoroughly with suitable mixing
equipment/mixing paddle (e.g.
BEBA double shaft positive mixer)
for approx. 3 minutes until homogenous and the proper consistency for working has been
achieved. Allow the mortar to mature for 3 minutes, then briefly mix
again.
Working time: 30 minutes, depending on ambient conditions.
When using iQ-Top as a reinforcement layer on iQ-Therm, the
mortar is applied 5 mm thick with a
10/12 toothed trowel and combed
while fresh. iQ-Tex is then worked
into the mortar in vertical sheets,
wrinkle-free, with a smoother.
Make sure that each sheet of fabric overlaps the next by at least 10
cm. The surface is then levelled
with a filling knife. The fabric
should be covered by at least 1
mm of iQ-Top.
The second layer is applied weton-wet. The thickness of the entire
layer should not exceed 15 mm. In
areas where there are openings in
the building (window and door
jambs), diagonal reinforcement is
used in addition which should be
placed over the surface reinforcement. Make sure that the strips of
fabric are pressed tightly into the
corners of the openings. The
freshly applied iQ-Top is then immediately closed with a wet,
toothed float and levelled roughly
with a rule.

material is still fresh.
After iQ-Top has sufficiently set it
is worked over with a felt float. The
application of iQ-Fill can be executed at the earliest after 24 hours.
Notes
Initially set mortar cannot be made
workable again by adding water or
fresh mortar. Do not use at temperatures below 5 °C. The times
given apply to a normal temperature range of + 20 °C and 65 %
relative humidity. Lower temperatures lengthen; higher temperatures reduce working and setting
time.
In very high humidity, it will be
necessary to create the right drying conditions, e.g. by setting up a
room dryer (after the applied renders has sufficiently set). Protect
the render from drying out too
quickly, especially in drafts and
thermal loads. If necessary, subsequently moisten/spray with water.
When executing render work, always observe DIN 18550.
The surface of the render should
be free of cracks. Hair or shrinkage
cracks are no reason for complaint
since they do not impair the technical values of the render.
