MoneoPass by Morpho
the multiservice card for the digital town
MoneoPass by Morpho
The rollout of contactless services presents a major
challenge for public authorities, and provides an opportunity for local and national government bodies to
offer users simplified services at a more local level.
The MoneoPass by Morpho contactless card manages
to simplify everyday tasks entirely, by using a single
card for multiple services such as public transport,
payments, online authentication, and so on, all with a
high level of security and confidentiality.
Why choose MoneoPass by Morpho
The main uses
The MoneoPass by Morpho contact and contactless card allows
users, companies and local authority employees to connect, identify
and authenticate themselves quickly and easily using just one card.
• Payment: Payment functions via Monéo, the turnkey e-Purse solution which is easy to install and deploy. Monéo simplifies payments and speeds up transactions at pay and display machines. Monéo can also be topped up at various banks.
• Transportation: Ticketing, card top-ups, parking, bike sharing, car sharing, etc.
•
Public services: Access to public buildings, school management, for example in secondary education, manage-
ment of working hours for local authority workers and vehicle fleets for local authorities, etc.
• Culture and loyalty scheme: The e-Purse can be used to store memberships for libraries, sporting facilities, museums, etc.
• Visual identity: The card can be customized with the town‘s colors and thus used as a unifying means of communication.
The MoneoPass by Moprho card is
the latest version of a card developed
by Morpho e-Documents using MPS
criteria (Monéo Payment Solutions).
Millions of such cards are already
in circulation in France, particularly
in universities, where they are used
to make life easier for students on
campus.
It all began with a contact smart card
(BMS1). This was followed by the
hybrid version with two chips, one
contact and contactless (BMS1
Mifare), and finally we have the dual
interface, multi-application BMS2
card.
This new version provides major new
features, particularly for transportation (in accordance with the Calypso
standard and new certifications), and
user authentication, thanks to its PKI
(public key infrastructure) functions.
The open town
With the MoneoPass by Morpho
card’s multiple functions, municipalities can bring together different
bodies and operators (transportation,
parking, tourist offices, museums,
etc.) to make all of their town’s services more accessible. This openness
can even lead various neighboring
municipalities to share certain services (e.g. a transport card may offer
access to a neighboring town’s transportation).
The card can also host a variety of
third party applications which open
up payment functions for a range of
traders, even after the card has already been issued and is in circulation.
Transportation – the town pass
One of the key new features of the
MoneoPass by Moprho is the
addition of Calypso. Certified by
various integrators and transport
operators, Calypso works with
existing infrastructures and is easy to
deploy.
The Calypso standard was launched
in 2001, and is now used on more
than 15 million cards. The application
provides the public with a genuine
town pass to encourage the use of
mass transportation.
The PKI (public key infrastructure),
a secure and trusted link with the
municipality
MoneoPass by Moprho other major
new feature is security-related: PKI
offers strong authentication functions
which are legally recognized, thus
considerably reducing the risk of
fraud. With the PKI functions,
cardholders can access their own
secure area on the town’s website to
carry out authenticated transactions
online: for example, vehicle
registration documents can be
obtained, traders can pay their VAT,
employee social security
contributions can be paid, and
various forms can be downloaded.
Municipality employees can also
access a portal which they can use
to exchange information remotely
with their employers. PKI is a system
for managing certificates based on
generating asymmetric keys which
allow electronic signature of
documents, user authentication (by
password or biometrics), nonrepudiation, and encryption.
Morpho e-Documents,
your trusted partner
As a global leader in the field of
smart cards and identity solutions,
Morpho e-Documents is a recognized
partner of major banks in France and
throughout the world. Our development
teams have produced a specific
operating system for the MoneoPass
by Moprho card which guarantees
openness, reliability, speed of
execution and an excellent price/
performance ratio which offers all the
benefits of interoperability.
We provide complete solutions which
combine hardware (cards, readers,
biometric readers), software and
consulting.
Protecting investments
BMS cards are ready to use and easy
to install. They comply with current
standards for each of their functions
(Monéo, Calypso, EMV) and offer
considerable interoperability: they
work with existing infrastructures
without the need for costly
modifications.
Preparing for the future
The success of the contactless card
is a key prerequisite for the
introduction of mobile NFC, as the
infrastructures are identical and
usage is closely related.
Many studies have shown that rolling
out contactless cards leads to regular
or even daily use. A town which is
already equipped with contactless
cards can launch mobile NFC more
easily as traders, operators and users
will already be up and running.
