(U.S.’s 1st major broadcast network) 19271927- May 2020-21 Charles Lindbergh makes first flight across the Atlantic Ocean (Long Island to Paris, France) Planes name was the Spirit of St. Loius 19271927- “The Jazz Singer” first motion picture with sound. 19281928- “Steamboat Willie” opens first picture to feature Mickey Mouse. 19281928- Amelia Earhart 1st female to fly across the Atlantic. 19281928- Herbert Hoover elected President of the U.S. The Great Migration: 1.6 million African Americans migrated from the south to the north in search of better jobs and better opportunities Harlem Renaissance: the cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and scholars 1929- St. Valentine’s Day massacre.
