Who wants to trade the soft light of a Chinese paper lantern for an electric buzz?
Guangzhou Development Group Incorporated (GDC) does. In fact, this power giant of
Guangzhou, China, is getting ready to swap out all the lanterns for all residents in the
entire area to become one of the largest electric power suppliers in China. Its source
of power is the magnificent Pearl River Delta, which requires sustainable operations.
With such critical goals, GDC needed insight into its own engine, its IT landscape.
With help from the SAP® Enterprise Support advisory center and value maps for
business decision makers, GDC gained oversight of its software and important skills.
With the ability to perform root cause analysis and monitor business processes, the IT
team at GDC can keep the shop running at full performance to illuminate its millions of
houses. On some evenings, paper lanterns still come out and spill their soft light into
the shadows. It is all the nicer because they can now be saved for special occasions.
