Contact Information: [email protected] Course Description This course introduces students to OSHA regulations and industry practices related to creating
and maintaining safe construction sites. At the completion of the course students who attend
ALL classes will be eligible to receive an OSHA 30 Hour Course Completion Card. Course Prerequisite
CNST 3301 Construction Equipment and Methods Textbook CFR 1926 – Code of Federal Regulations for Construction. This book can be purchased from the
instructor at a significant discount. “Safe by Accident” by Aubrey Daniels Learning Objectives
Upon the completion of the course students will demonstrate the ability to:
• Describe OSHA’s mission and Employee’s Rights & Responsibilities under the Act.
• Describe the process of an OSHA inspection
• Describe the types and severity of penalties imposed on violators
• Describe fundamental safe practices commonly implemented on construction sites
• Describe ways employers can manage Safety & Health In addition to the learning objectives above, this course is emphasizing Ethics, Safety, and
Oral/Written Communication. Grading: Assessments 50%

attendance and class participation if numerical grade warrants such consideration. Students who

on the syllabus. Course/Instructor Evaluation:
A Start-Stop-Continue survey and a course/instructor evaluation will be conducted at the middle
and the end of this semester. Any suggestions you have on improving the course, however, are
welcome throughout the semester.
