In lesson one, we learned all about Pointillism. The concept of pointillism is to create a solid space of colour by using dots of two or more colours in an area. When we use this technique, we are mixing colours by placing two colours side by side. In our second lesson, we learned all about Pop Art. Short for Popular Art, the Pop Art movement used common everyday objects, such as billboards, comic strips, magazine advertisements, famous faces and supermarket products. It was influenced by advertising and comic strips, so it used bright bold and flat colours, along with thick black lines. In lesson three, we learned all about Fauvism. Fauvism is a movement in modern French painting. It uses very bold, vivid, pure colours. The Fauves believed that colour and a strong pattern were more important than being realistic. We used oil pastels and smudged them to create the desired blending effect. 15 Mai 2015 15th May 2015 Diary Dates: 3-5/06—Y 5/6 PGL Residential Visit 10/06—Colorfoto Photographer in school 11/06 or 12/06—School Sports Day (weather permitting) 16/06—Y6—Hit Aberavon Beach The Surf, 19/06—Y6 Maths Day—Dyffryn Comprehensive 22/06—National Cricket Week 07/07—Y6—Dyffryn Day Transition 07/07—Y5 Triathlon—National Swimming Pool 16/07—PTFA Party ‘Shorts & Shades’ 17/07—Last Day for children Finally, in lesson four, we learned all about Impressionism. We used paint and multiple sizes of paint brushes to create these patterns. 20/07—INSET Day After learning about and practising all four styles, in lesson five we combined them all in one drawing, to create our beautiful pieces of artwork that are now displayed in our classroom.
