HIGHLIGHTS OF ACTIVITIES OF NDRF BNS- SEPTEMBER, 2012
The NDRF Bns located in different parts of the country have undertaken commendable
during the month of September, 2012. They have earned laurels from the public, the State
Governments, the media and all concerned. A few snippets in this regard are given below:(i)
Rescue, Relief operations:
01 Bn, Guwahati
(Assam)
During the second phase of flood, NDRF teams were deployed in
four districts. The performance of the NDRF Bns during the entire flood
relief in Assam has the following highlights:




(Uttar Pradesh)
09 Bn, Patna
(Bihar)

: 16 NDRF teams.
NDRF rescuers shared their food, for quite some time, with flood
affected children.
 NDRF assumed the responsibility of the Response Agency.
 Operations were conducted even at night as well as during rains.
 The flood affected people of Assam were delighted with the
performance of NDRF and presents NDRF as “AMAAR RONGA
RONGOR DURJOG UDDHAR VAHINI” (Out Red Dressed Disaster
Response Bn).
 15 operations of drowning cases were conducted and recovered
7 dead bodies. (Picture- Appendix-A)
A three-storied building under construction collapsed in Dhankawadi,
Pune on 24.9.2012. Immediately on receipt of information, two teams
rushed to the spot, swung into action, rescued 11 persons alive and
retrieved 10 dead bodied (Picture- Appendix-B)
Three NDRF teams were deployed in Panchmahal and Surat districts in
Gujarat in the wake of floor in these districts and rescued 658 people
from marooned area and retrieved 03 dead bodies during the period
from 06 Sept to 20 Sept. (Picture- Appendix-C)
One team of the Bn was deployed in Could Burst incident in
Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand w.e.f 14th Sept to 21st Sept. and
retrieved 09 dead bodies. (Picture- Appendix-D)
One team of the Bn was deployed at Parliament House, Delhi w.e.f 20 th
July to 07th Sept.’12 to respond in case of any CBRN emergency during
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Sessions.
In an incident of boat capsize in district Bhojpur, Bihar, one team of the
Bn was deployed from 10th Sept to 14th Sept,’12 and the team retrieved
13 dead bodies. (Picture- Appendix-E)

Training :As a part of capacity building programme, in addition to own training, NDRF Bns have
been undertaking training of State Police personnel too. The training imparted in the
month of Sept. 2012 by various NDRF Bns includes the following:
 100 personnel of Nagaland Mahila Bn trained by 1ST BN NDRF at CTC, Nagaland

 70 personnel of Tamilnadu Special Commando Police trained by 04 th Bn NDRF
during the Month of Sept, 2012 (Picture- Appendix-G)

Community Capacity Building / Public Awareness Programme.
NDRF Bns undertook sustained efforts for Community Capacity Building / Public
Awareness during the month of Sep’2012. (Picture- Appendix-H)
