Civil Litigation, Insurance Defense
Shawn is an associate with the rm’s litigation division, focusing his practice primarily on civil action for deprivation of rights, personal
injury, insurance defense, and appeals on behalf of veterans. Law is a second career for Shawn who previously served for 8 years on active
duty in the United States Army as an Infantryman. This experience means he understands and can relate to clients going through the
stress and uncertainty of the legal process and why he is so diligent about hard work and clear, timely communication.
Shawn graduated from University of Maryland-UC with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctor
from University of Missouri School of Law. Shawn worked in the law school Veteran’s Clinic where he provided pro bono representation to
veterans needing discharge upgrades, award applications, record corrections, and appeals. Upon graduation Shawn spent a year in solo
practice handling criminal defense and workers’ compensation defense before transitioning to litigation. He is a member of the Kansas
City Metropolitan Bar Foundation, the Military Matters Operating Committee, and he serves on the KCMBF Board of Directors.
