DESCRIPTIONS AND SILENCE A NEGATION
OF REALITY. SO WHAT IS REALITY ITSELF?

Whatever is full is quiet.”

30 years. He is a regular teacher and Director of the Society.
11.30AM – ON CULTIVATING OUR VISIONS AND DREAMS
The Buddha with His body all in gold
Was adorned with the marks of a hundred blessings.
His very existence was like a pleasant dream
In which He heard the Dharma and voiced It for the sake of all.
from Zen Master Dogen’s teaching on
On a Vision within a Vision and a Dream within a Dream
(Muchu Setsumu)
In the talk Ekai Korematsu Osho will examine the Buddhist view
of life as being as insubstantial and impermanent as a dream or a
vision. According to Zen Master Dogen, this dream-vision is also a
manifestation of the Truth, which we either see or do not see depending
on whether we are spiritually awake or not.
Ekai Korematsu Osho is the main teacher and Director of Jikishoan’s Training
and Buddhist Studies Program. Born in Japan in 1948, he studied humanities
and Buddhism in Denmark and the USA. He was ordained as a monk by Kobun Chino Roshi at
Haiku Zendo, Los Altos, in 1976. He received Dharma transmission from Ikko Narasaki Roshi at
Zuioji Monastery in 1986. His formal training was 12 years at three monasteries, Eiheiji, Zuioji
and Shogoji. His Buddhist education is through Soto Zen Buddhism. He has been serving as Abbot
and Resident Teacher of Jikishoan in Melbourne since its inception in 1999.

meditation also develops focus, energy, empathy, compassion and wisdom. Join us for a
taste of meditation that can help you discover a healthier approach to life events.
2.00PM – MINDFUL RELATIONSHIPS
A lot of our lives we spend with other people. Mindfulness can help you
transform your relationships to be a greater source of joy for you and
others. This talk will share practical strategies for enhancing your life
with a mindful approach to how you relate.
Anthony Joseph has been a student of Geshe Loden for more than 30 years.
He is a regular teacher and Director of the Society.
3.30PM – MEDITATION AS MEDICINE
The word Meditation in English is derived from the same root as medicine –
Latin medicina ‘the healing art’. “By working with our inner conditions ….
we have the chance to cultivate psychological flourishing.” Traleg Kyabgon
Rinpoche IX
Buddhism offers numerous techniques and practices for cultivating
genuine wellbeing. The Four Immeasurables - Equanimity, Loving
kindness, Compassion and Joy can act as antidotes to mind states
that create suffering such as anxiety and depression, enabling us to
experience more balanced and healthy states of mind and inner calm and
contentment. This session will explore the Four Immeasurables and is an opportunity
to engage in practice.
Virginia Golding is a psychotherapist, consultant and teacher, She has been practising Tibetan
Buddhism under the guidance of Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche and in India for a number of years.
Virginia applies both Western and Buddhist psychological perspectives and methods in her
courses and seminars. She facilitates weekend retreats in outer Melbourne at the Maitripa
Centre, and has clinical practices in Healesville and East Ringwood.
