Hello Vaccine Coordinators and others, This update includes information about: Introduction of new Immunization Staff New VIS’s for Tdap and Td HPV Vaccine Transition Annual Provider Agreement due this month! (April) Provider Vaccine Selection 1) New Immunization Program Staff: We are pleased to announce Bill Wadkins, BSN [email protected] has taken the open position in the immunization program as the new Immunization nurse consultant. Bill previously worked in the Communicable Disease program here at WCHD. Sandy Abernathy will be retiring as of May 1, 2015, so expect further staffing changes. 2) New VIS’s: On March 27, CDC posted final revised versions of the Td and Tdap Vaccine Information Statements (VISs), both dated 2/24/2015. According to CDC, the updated versions are not significantly different than the previous editions, which may be used while existing stocks last. http://www.immunize.org/vis/ Please remember to update your EMR and IIS to reflect the VIS’s you are giving to your patients. 3) HPV Vaccine Transition: Please do not waste your supply of HPV 4! To assure existing stock of HPV 4 is used prior to the transition to HPV 9, HPV 4 will not be available for ordering during the month of April. If it looks as if you may run out of HPV 4 before your next EOQ ordering period, contact WCHD for availability of excess HPV 4 at other practices. Providers may begin ordering HPV 9 starting in May but according to your EOQ schedule. Continue to use any existing HPV 4 for male patients 16 through 18 years of age until your supply is exhausted. The two-sided document has information about HPV 4 and HPV 9 on the first page and includes information about the two new meningococcal B vaccines on the second page. Included for each vaccine are: the new CPT and CVX codes, description about licensure, ACIP eligibility, the schedule, and storage and handling. The document includes links to the full prescribing information for detailed information on usage. The next attached document answers frequently asked questions about HPV 9. 4) 2015 VFC Program Provider Agreements: Provider offices can now renew their annual provider agreement, using the WA IIS. The deadline is April 30, 2015. If the agreement is not completed by this date, you will not be allowed to order any vaccines. Clinics belonging to a network such as FCN, should check with their administrators regarding completion of the agreement and responsible parties. 5) Provider Vaccine Selection Coming Soon: Vaccine selection process will be open from April 15 through the 30. We will send a fax notice to providers on the 15. Only providers who want to change their vaccine products need to participate. All providers wishing to make product changes must do so in the IIS.
