1. Scope of the Project
We will analyse three groups:



The direct competitors already identified by RISE.
More direct competitors as identified by the consulting team.
Further indirect competitors.
2. Objectives of the Project




Identify more competitors.
Understand positioning of each competitor.
Gain a deeper understanding of all competitors including those currently listed in the
business plan.
Learn from others’ shortcomings such as why M-Kopa’s growth in Tanzania has been
slow.
3. Success Criteria




A list of x number of competitors.
Develop and present a framework for understanding the different positions of each
“competitor”.
Key relevant learnings from each competitor.
Identification of key trends and changes amongst competitors.
4. Assumptions & Constraints


Indirect competitors will be limited to those currently operating in Tanzania and direct
competitors outside of Tanzania (but limited to within East Africa) will only be
analysed if they have a similar business model to RISE.
Project timeline will be Friday 24th June - Friday 8th July.
5. Project Schedule (Gantt chart)
The project’s final deliverable will be presented on the 8th of July. Upon selection of project
we will develop and share a Gantt chart to show the timeline and key stages of the project.
