Deaconess Hospital Trauma Services and
Regional Network Services have produced
two educational DVDs that provide an
overview of the November 6, 2005,
Vanderburgh County disaster response.
When Disaster Strikes:
The Pre-Hospital Response
Tornado Response
On November 06, 2005, disaster struck the
Tri-State area when an F3 tornado touched
down in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties.
Deaconess Hospital treated 49 patients
injured in this natural disaster. Twenty-four
patients were admitted, with 12 patients
going to the intensive care units. Seven
patients required surgery in the first 24
hours after the tornado hit. Twenty-two
patients were treated and released from the
Deaconess Emergency Department.

Deaconess Hospital would like to recognize

police and sheriff’s departments, fire
departments and EMS services throughout
our region during this tragedy.
Following the disaster, multiple critiques
have been conducted by response agencies.
Educational sessions are being conducted to
spotlight the November tornado response.
