Dear parents
Welcome back to BPS. The staff is keen to
commence on another year of successful teaching
and learning.
In previous years we have been able to establish
classes without too many surprises but this year an
unexpected surge in Kindergarten enrolments has
seen some reshuffling of teachers and students.
Many schools do not form classes until a couple of
weeks into the term because numbers can
fluctuate. Unfortunately I did not predict such a
surge, however the changes are neat and do not
involve forming a composite class.
The reshuffle has mainly affected kindergarten
classes as we go from 4 classes to 5.
It also affects year 4 because we have absorbed one
class into the other 2 classes to enable a teacher to
take the extra kindergarten class.
The classes for 2016 are as follow:

All new 2016 Kindergarten students commence
school this Monday 1st February. We are meeting in
the kindergarten playground and parents are
invited to stay for a ‘Cheers and Tears’ Morning Tea.
Next Thursday is Meet The Teacher evening.
This is a chance to hear about class routines, topics
to be covered and to choose a class representative
parent. This meeting is held in the classroom.
It is not a time for one-on-one discussion with the
teacher. Those meetings occur in Week 5.
The times are as follows:
Early Stage 1 Kindergarten: 5:00-5:45pm
Stage 1 Grades 1&2: 6:15-7:00pm
Stage 2 Grades 3&4: 5:45-6:30pm
Stage 3 Grades 5&6:5:00-5:45pm
The Welcome Barbecue and Chinese Dragon Dance
is a great way to start the school year.
Mayor Sally Betts and State Attorney General
Gabrielle Upton are both attending. Prime Minister
Malcolm Turnbull has sent his apologies and well
wishes. There are no speeches or formalities. It is an
alcohol free event. It starts at 5pm and will be
finished by 7:15pm.

The swimming carnival for grades 2-6 is on
Thursday 11th February. It is held at the spectacular
Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool in the Domain. Lunch is
held in the Botanic Gardens. Buses leave early
(7:45am) and will be arriving back late (after 3pm)
when they return.
Please read the note carefully for all details.
School photograph day is Monday 15th February. It
is early this year which will mean the shirts will still
be bright and white! Details are coming.
There are still a few DVDs of last year’s musicals
available from the front office. They are $10.
Kind regards,
Michael Jones
Principal
