Point of View
Point of view is the vantage point from which the writer tells a story. The main points of
view are first person, third-person limited, and omniscient.
DIRECTIONS: Read the descriptions of the types of points of view below. Then, answer the
following questions about the selection.
First Person: The narrator is one of the story characters; the reader is told only what this
character knows and observes.
Third-Person Limited: The narrator describes the feelings and perceptions of only one
character.
Omniscient: The all-knowing narrator describes many characters’ thoughts, feelings and
actions.
