It has been such a busy halfterm and an especially busy week, with the KS2 trip to Westpoint for the Farmwise event and Class 2's assembly. The Harvest Display is up and looks lovely in the school and a reminder of a lovely day for the children. Thank you to all of those who helped and supported these enriching experiences for the children. The children really enjoyed the Farmwise event and were very well-behaved. We also had two of the best teams in the Custard Milking Challenge! As you have no doubt seen in the news, there has been a craze for people to dress up as clowns and this has caused some anxiety for children, with some of them bringing the topic, from home, into school. Please be mindful regarding the content children are watching online, as it seems fairly innocuous content on channels like YouTube have suggested links that relate to the clowns. You may wish to address this with your children and reassure them should they raise it with you. We have not drawn attention to the craze in school as there are children who are completely oblivious to it and we saw no sense in generating any unnecessary anxiety. Next week appears to be equally full. KS2 have their Ancient Greek Day and we also welcome Theatre Alibi for their performance of The Boy Who Climbed the Moon and then the week is concluded with the HPSA Halloween Disco. In the meantime, have a good weekend. Best wishes, Steven Badcott ************************************************************************************************************************************ Diary Dates: Ancient Greece Day 17 Oct Class 1 Assembly 18 Oct Halloween Disco 21 Oct Wear Pink/Purple Day 21 Oct Theatre Alibi 21 Oct Class 1 News Part of our Neighbourhood Watch topic has been about how we can help our local area. One of our favourite subjects is animals, so we thought that helping animals was a good idea! We have shared books about hedgehogs, one of which was about how hedgehogs hibernate in winter. They need somewhere safe to do this and some people build ‘animal hotels’ for hibernating creatures to stay in safely when it is cold and there are fewer things to eat. We decided to build one ourselves in the wildlife area. There is a pile of logs for hedgehogs to hide under, as well as piles of pine cones and rolls of cardboard for smaller creatures such as moths to nestle in. We had great fun talking about it , designing it and building it. Now we hope that our neighbourhood animals will want to come and stay!
