Late French Immersion
A Bilingual Educational Opportunity
Why Late French Immersion?
§ It is a program of choice that runs from Grade 6 through 12.
§ No prior knowledge of French is required to enter Late French Immersion.
§ In this age of information, communication, technology and travel, every different
learning opportunity opens more career and life doors to students.
§ Learning a second language increases self-confidence and independence, it also
strengthens the language skills of the mother tongue.
§ Students follow the regular BC Curriculum Learning Outcomes
§ The program completes with grade 12 students receiving their bilingual Dogwood.
Program Goals:
• To produce students who are able to understand and communicate in French and
English.
• To allow students to develop linguistic and cultural knowledge within a program that
supports a spirit of positive appreciation and respect.
• To foster the physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and creative development of
students.
• To develop respect, awareness, appreciation and understanding of the French and
English cultures and values.
• To enable students to pursue further education and careers in either language.
