 Hostile crowd attacks troops with snowballs/insults
 Terrified troops fire into crowd
 5 colonists die (hero Crispus Attucks – former slave)
John Adams defended the soldiers in court = most found innocent, light punishment

 Sons of Liberty – angry about court ruling
 Painting used as propaganda (convincing others to take action)
