Head of Events and Liaison Royal British Legion Scotland £28000 – £32,000 Central Edinburgh with travel throughout Scotland Legion Scotland (The Royal British Legion Scotland), the largest veterans’ membership charity in Scotland, is continuing its ambitious plan for strategic growth over the next 3-5 years. As part of our plans to grow and improve our support to veterans and their families we have an exciting opening for someone to join our team. As Head of Events and Liaison reporting to the Chief Executive you will be responsible for increasing our programme of events throughout Scotland. This will include reviewing, improving and then implementing changes to our existing events. This will increase opportunities for innovative remembrance of those that have given the ultimate sacrifice or been wounded/injured in service to their nation, supporting those that may have been affected by their service and generally increase opportunities to foster comradeship and improving the wellbeing of veterans and raising the much needed funds to support these activities. In doing so you will take the lead to foster and improve liaison within the armed forces and veterans communities in Scotland. This will result in an increase in membership and will raise awareness of the work that Legion Scotland does to support veterans and their families. You will be a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a ‘can-do’ attitude, hands-on approach and an experienced team player, but also having the ability to work autonomously when required. You will be highly experienced and have a proven track record in event management planning including researching and identifying event opportunities. With significant experience in managing budgets and resources you will successfully deliver our programme of events within budget and carry out post event evaluation. You will be able to effectively liaise and communicate with UK and Scottish Governments and our internal and external partners including third sector organisations to negotiate, plan and deliver national and local community events and increase the membership and awareness of the work of Legion Scotland. You will have access to your own vehicle and have the ability to travel. In return we offer the following salary and benefits Salary of £28,000 – £32,000 dependent on experience. Hours of work 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, although flexibility and weekend work will be required. 31 days annual holidays (with an additional Christmas shut down period) Employer’s contribution of 6% of salary to a pension of your choice.
