It’s Labor Day Weekend – time to transition back from carefree fun in the sun to
the “real world” of work and responsibility. It always seems to come too quickly, yet I find
myself relishing the structure and predictability that comes along with routine. I have
been spending some of my time during this last weekend of summer filling out my big
wall calendar – all properly color-coded to family member and organization. As you most
likely have guessed, all my Women’s Club events are a brilliant Sharpie green. And with
all the verdant green on my calendar, it’s beginning to look like endless summer, no
matter the season! I am thrilled to see how many engaging events we have lined up,
quite a few of which are coming up in the next month. So, in case you
have your own Sharpie out, here is a sample of the ways you can join the
fall fun at the Club.
We are getting an early start this year with a Women’s Club retro
theme, bringing back two classic events that have been very popular in
years past. The first is the beloved Steak Night on Friday, September 30th,
hosted by our Social Department. Here’s how it works: we fire up the
grills and you bring your favorite steak (or fish, chicken, or tofu) and
beverage of choice. The Club provides the rest...festive set-up and tasty
side dishes! It is a low-key, low-cost event and a perfect opportunity to
re-connect with our friends and share stories of our summer adventures.

sure to sign-up early. You don’t want to miss out!
Our second “back by popular demand” event is Jazz Night on Friday, October 7th,
organized and hosted by the Music Department. The Club will be transformed into a
jumping jazz club and “The Southside Quartet” will be providing some fabulous
entertainment. Invite your friends and neighbors and get ready for a night of lively music
right in your own back yard. Check out the article in this newsletter for all the details.
These two “Welcome Back” events are just the tip of the iceberg for this fall. Read
further or visit our website for all the not-to-be-missed moments we have on the
calendar. I hope to see you at the Club very soon, catching up with friends and enjoying

Untermeyer Gardens!
Built in the 1920’s as a modern day Garden of Eden, Untermeyer
Gardens has it all: history, rills, fountains, flowers, a temple of love,

Palisades and the Hudson river.
