Volunteer Minibus Driver (Support Gateway Youth Club)
What is the Support Gateway Youth Club?
We are a busy youth club which is enjoyed by more than 30 young people with
additional needs each week. The youth club gives young people the chance to
socialise, learn from each other and develop. We have a brilliant team of enthusiastic
and hardworking volunteers who support the youth club and minibus service.
What is the role?
As the young people who use the youth club have additional support needs they are
unable to travel independently. We provide a minibus service to collect young people
from home and bring them to the youth club. We are looking for a volunteer minibus
driver to help us with this. The minibus driver would work alongside minibus escorts
to make sure young people have a safe and enjoyable journey. Once the minibus
has arrived at the youth club, there are refreshments on site and the opportunity to
join in fun activities with the young people.
Where?
The minibus departs from Battinson Road, Halifax, HX1 4PL. The Support Gateway
Youth Club is at Brighouse Youth Centre.
When?
A volunteer minibus driver is needed for two Thursday evenings a month, starting at
5.30pm and finishing 10.00pm at Battinson Road, Halifax.
Who?
The Support Gateway Youth Club is looking for a volunteer who:




has a kind and patient attitude
passed their driving test before 1997
is willing to undertake the blue card training and test to drive the minibus
is willing to undertake a DBS check
Full training, induction and supervision will be provided to volunteers. All expenses, including
DBS check, travel to Battinson Road and blue card training and test will be covered by
Calderdale Council. Any volunteering will be subject to successfully passing Calderdale
Council’s blue card and occupational health checks and requirements. All minibus drivers
are also subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
