Destination features sculptures by artist Jeffrey
Fulwilder, a member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa
Indian Community. His work includes “Water Birds” at
Salt River Fields at Talking Stick; “Fire Keepers” at the
Pavilions at Talking Stick and “Devil’s Claw” at Talking
Stick Resort. Additional works can be seen at the Pima
Center and include “Basket Dancers,” “Gourd Men,”
and “Flute Players.”

The Talking Stick name is derived from the Pima
Calendar Stick. Pima artisans have long carved images
on these sticks to commemorate important events.

A CULTURAL AND ENTERTAINMENT DESTINATION
The Wildhorse Grille at Talking Stick Golf Club hosts
monthly wine dinners during the fall/winter months
and is proud to offer Kids Club, with junior camps,
every summer.

Architectural details such as the building structure and
iron artwork in the Wildhorse Grille pay tribute to the
Pima and Maricopa tribes. Those seeking an up close
look at the culture can visit the Pro Shop, where 4 Pima
baskets are on display year round.
Talking Stick is a dynamic, new cultural and entertainment destination and we
invite you to shop, stay, play and dine with us. Conveniently located within the
northern corridor of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Talking
Stick visitors enjoy the open atmosphere with panoramic views of Camelback
Mountain, Four Peaks, Red Mountain and the McDowell Mountains. Each of
these mountains has cultural significance for the Pima (Akimel O’odham) and
the Maricopa (Xalychidom Piipaash).

Resort
Talking Stick Resort proudly
shows the richness of the
Native American heritage
through a song and dance
showcase. Dances include
Pima Socials, Hoop Dancing,
Plains Style Fancy Dancing,
Jingle Dress Dancing and
more. Featuring Yellow
Bird Production, a Native
Talking Stick Resort Cultural Center
American dance company
based in Phoenix, shows are Friday and Saturday
evenings at 6pm (seasonally) in the Fire Garden.
Admission is free.
Talking Stick Resort’s Cultural Center currently
showcases a 100 piece collection of Maricopa pottery,
which range in style and size. Along with the pottery
collection, the Cultural Center, located in the hotel lobby,
features artwork from artists of the Salt River Indian
Community and is open year round.

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick
Salt River Fields at Talking Stick offers a Stewardship
Trail and History Trail; both provide guests
information on the cultural elements of the facility that
reflect the Pima and Maricopa tribes.

River Fields during a facility tour. Tours are offered

Salt River Fields is proud to partner with many great
organizations to bring events to the Community.
Annual events include the Independence Day Music
Festival, Halloween Spooktacular Balloon Festival,
Street Eats Food Truck Festival and Arizona Taco
Festival.
Talking Stick Resort is also home to a permanent
exhibition of historic Arizona photographs from
the collection of Jeremy Rowe Vintage Photography.
Over 78 historic photographs illustrate the rich regional
history of central Arizona. Subjects range from the
period of 1880 to 1940 and depict life on the reservation,
the regional environment, and the early communities
that border the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian
Community. The collection is on exhibit in the galleries
on the main floor of the resort Conference Center.

250 to 500 cars and up to 150 motorcycles. It’s the
perfect place to see classic cars in a free open-air venue,
complete with 50’s era music.
Car enthusiasts will also enjoy the 5 & Diner Sock
Hop, the first Saturday of each month. Visitors will
enjoy classic cars, live music and fun for the whole
family.
Courtyard Marriott Scottsdale
Salt River
The Courtyard Marriott Scottsdale Salt River proudly
incorporated elements of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa
Indian Community in the design of the property,
which can be seen on the texture of the exterior walls
and in the landscaping details around the facility. As
guests enter the main lobby, they walk past two pillars
which represent the Salt and Verde Rivers. Guests
continue their path on sparkling blue flooring, which
symbolizes the river, through the lobby and out to
the pool. The lobby of the Courtyard Scottsdale Salt
River also features two small cultural displays that
feature Pima baskets and Maricopa pottery, as
well as a large photo/mural of Pima basket dancers.

can also be found throughout the property and in all
sleeping rooms and meeting spaces.
The Pavilions at Talking Stick
In addition to a multitude of shopping options
including over 60 stores, restaurants and cinema,
the Pavilions at Talking Stick offers the McDonald’s
Rock ‘n’ Roll Car Show every Saturday from 4-8pm.
Celebrating over 20 years, the event is the longest
