St. Pius X Catholic School 2015 Summer Reading Program St. Pius X School has a Summer Reading Program for children in grades 2 – 8. Reading is one of the most important life-long skills a person can ever acquire, and we are seeing a decline for the “love of reading” in our school students. In this age of technology, we need to encourage our children to continue to read, read, and read. We cannot give up this most basic skill in favor of computers, TV, video games, Playstations, etc. To quote a very wise man, “If you can read, you can do anything you want to do.” Grades 2 and 3 (children entering these grades for 2015-2016) A list of suggested books will be sent home with the children along with the final Report Card on June 4, 2010. Please encourage your children to read any or all of these books over the summer. Grades 4 – 8 (children entering these grades for 2015-2016) This is a mandatory reading program. The teachers have selected specific books to be read over the summer. There will be assignments, tests, and other assessment methods used with these books.
