DRESS CODE FOR JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST (JB MDL) DINING FACILITIES 1. Authorized users of appropriated fund dining facilities (DFAC) may utilize facilities in a number of Military uniform or civilian clothing combinations as outlined below. It is imperative that a joint policy be established to assist DFAC personnel with enforcement of standards. Joint partner commanders may establish additional unit specific restrictions based on individual mission needs and requirements; however, enforcement is the sole responsibility of that unit. 2. All military uniforms are authorized and all military personnel utilizing a DFAC on JB MDL will comply with the provisions of applicable Service instructions (i.e., AFI 36-2903 (Dress and Appearance of Air Force Personnel), AR 670-1 (Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia), NAVPERS 15665 (U. S. Navy Uniform Regulation), MCO P1020.34 (Marine Corps Uniform Regulation), COMDTINWST M1020.6F (U.S. Coast Guard Uniform Regulation), or an equivalent joint/coalition service regulation. Service authorized Physical Training (PT) Uniforms may be worn in all JB MDL dining facilities. a. Wearing of any combination of the PT uniform that is soiled, sweaty or dirty is prohibited. Members may not perform PT and then proceed to any dining facility in the same uniform. b. Members wearing soiled, sweaty or dirty PT uniforms will not be authorized to enter the facility to consume a meal or receive a carry out meal. 3. Appropriate civilian attire is authorized. The following items are NOT authorized (regardless of military status): a. Wearing a hat or head covering, to include “doo” rags (religious headgear is authorized according to service-specific regulations). b. Wearing a one or two piece swimsuit or brief style swimsuit. c. Wearing clothing designed to be worn as undergarments as an outer garment (with the exception of crew neck/v-neck t-shirts). d. Wearing clothing with obscene or lewd words or drawings, which implies support of unlawful or subversive ideas or practices or shorts/pants that do not cover the buttocks. e. Wearing jewelry which is out of compliance with any uniform regulation and/or related supplements (i.e. men’s earrings). f. Wearing any clothing that, at the discretion of the food service facility manager or shift leaders, would create an unsanitary, embarrassing, or unsafe situation for customers and employees (i.e., tank tops or spaghetti straps, tube tops or any like item). g. Wearing mixed and distinctive uniform items with civilian clothing. h. Open-toe footwear (i.e. flip-flops, shower shoes, etc.). 4. All personnel utilizing a JB MDL DFAC will comply with these guidelines. In addition to maintaining good order and discipline, this guidance will help to ensure the health and welfare of all patrons. Individuals failing to comply with these standards will be asked to leave until a time when all requirements are met. 5.
